I suppose the tiresome "getting bored" cliché is the last refuge for many of these bitters.
Ever since the takeover many of the truths that they held to be self-evident have been dismantled one-by-one.
"You'll never get good players to move there without Champions League history"
"You can't buy success"
"You can't buy team spirit"
"You'll fuck it up. You always do"
"35 years"
"Not got the history to win the league"
....have all been consigned to the out-tray marked "wrong". Our owners "getting bored" is something that could never be completely proved wrong because it is predicated on something happening eventually, which means you can keep saying it forever no matter how increasingly preposterous it is as a proposition.
Tell someone they'll never get promoted at work, they only have to do it once to prove you wrong. Tell them they'll eventually get sacked for wanking off a goat and they can never turn round to you and say you were wrong - at least until they retire!
That's all this is. The last desperate acts of sad fuckers clinging on to the comfort blanket of their previous reality. All the things they said wouldn't happen, have, so they instead stray into the realms of fantasy.The fact that any of them are still saying it just shows how much our rise to prominence stings them.
There's a world of difference between what you think will happen and what you want to happen and many football fans have difficulty differentiating the two in their own minds.
Especially united fans when it comes to rationalising about little old City.
Their tears taste delicious.
