Just recalling Sterling's 2nd goal v West Ham. Absolutely loved the way he just danced around the keeper and slotted it in so calmly and so easily. A player who can make the difficult look so effortless is the hallmark of quality.

A real highlight of the game,something he would have made a hash of last season.
That he managed to take that extra split second to think of the best option for finishing it after taking it round the keeper showed he is developing one of the crucial things he's been missing and that's composure.

I agree, it is something that he would've ballsed up last season but I don't think it's through development of composure, I think he's already shown examples of his composure in the past, take the goal he scored against us when making a fool of Hart and Kompany. It's all about confidence, the confidence in his own ability gives him the composure in those situations.

So unlike you to put a negative slant on what has been a great start to the season for the lad.

As I said,"Much Improved from last season". But I'd like to see him really dominate his area of the pitch & his direct opponents for longer periods of the game. Agin WHU I'd like to have seen him running their left siders back into their box more,looking for penalties & a possible sending off. He still seems reluctant to be absolutely ruthless and a killer.

It'll be interesting to see if he has the willingness to kick on again.......and again.

Listening to the Guardian Football Weekly podcast, one of the guys was talking about Sterling and saying that when he came to us he was very disappointed that Pellegrini didn't make any attempt to improve him as a player or take any personal interest in him. This came from someone close to Sterling and you can easily believe it.

It explains why so many of the players seemingly couldn't be bothered last season. After all, if the manager isn't bothered, why should you be?

Everyone knows Pellegrini is a hands off manager. It was exactly what the players needed after Mancini, but as time went on it lead to indiscipline and stagnation.

Was thinking how much Murdoch inc have laid in to the lad over the last year so, as he has hit some form and rediscovered the onion bag I thought a cheeky wager on him scoring for England at the weekend. True but it's not just based on public vote, there's also a panel that will judge so you never know.
