Raheem Sterling - 2016/17 performances

He was poor, failed to make simple passes and kept dribbling into shaw. Still a good start though.

Seemed a strange performance from him, tbh. The one odd showing from the City side that I least expected, tbh. Seemed to have no interest in dribbling past Shaw, was he simply a decoy to keep Shaw pinned back and open up things for KDB, Silva & Nolito?

I'm not slating Rahim, but he does get consumed by hostile big game atmosphere too much. His confidence though under Pep is quickly flourishing, and in time he will confidently rise to any occasion and will justify the fee paid. Also his erratic split second decision making in when to pass, and when to shoot with conviction will become second nature. Confidence breeds confidence as they say...

Shaw was there for the taking on Saturday both Raheem and Sane when it became even more stretched should have gone past him over and over again.

too scared to take risk when things get tough, still weak inside, need to improve mental strength in order to be the best though.

Think Roberts is a better dribbler and tries to take on players or like pelegrini does pep not want our wingers to take on the player and make sure keep the ball wait for a player and pass, sterlings running of the ball has improved though.

Pep had a go at Sterling for not taking on his man enough against West Ham so no Pep isn't like Pellegrini in this regard, he actively encourages his wide men to take their full backs on.

Oh right he didnt take on anyone on saturday either but thats me picking out 1 negative of a pretty accomplished performance.

STERLING: “When I was on holiday in the summer I said I need to come back working hard to show the manager I’m willing to fight for a place"
STERLING: “Pep makes it simple - he tells you it like it is. He gives me a lot of confidence as a young player."
STERLING: “I got a lot of criticism last year which I thought was a bit unfair. Now I don’t pay it any mind. I don’t read things like that."
STERLING: “Since day one the manager has tried to up the team spirit. Last year we were all close but now we’re closer than ever." #mcfc
STERLING: "I think with the players and manager we have, we’re getting stronger each week. We should be challenging for every competition"

I thought he went back into his shell again Saturday. Hopefully Pep will have a word in his ear.
