It's not new though. He's always been incredibly good at winning back possession. This is from July 10th - so before he got under Pep.

I would say though that because the structure of the team is better now and there's more support in the pressing after losing the ball, he seems to be doing it even more frequently.

Good stat, although I was alluding to it being from his attempted dribbles, I'd say his attempts have gone up considerably due to pep encouraging it, for me, there seems to be a coached intention for when he loses it, which is why I feel he looks stronger between man and ball.... I think it's a fair assessment to say he looked lightweight last year when dispossessed...

Just my opinion fella!!!

Good interview in the Fail tomorrow with Raheem, by Ollie Holt. Seems that most of last seasons training involved 'two-touch' only and may go some way to explaining his shocking loss of form. Not encouraged to run at people but to play the two-touch way. Says Pep has explained that closing down by running forward 5 yards must be better than running back 50. Sometimes the game sounds absurdly simple.

Great interview, I really enjoyed that. No surprise to see bitter Liverpool fans infesting the comments section.

Been saying this for 4 years. :) Happy someone smarter agrees.

Good article but oh, the hypocrisy... To be fair I don't know what Holt's line was while Sterling was getting slated but funny how these guys always talk as though the media is something separate from them when rewriting the script.

Quality young player who has been back to his best.

It's a breath of fresh air to see him doing so well and it's no less than he deserves, especially after the abuse.

Great to read that he's taking his profession even more serious too, with ice baths, etc, and it can only help him and us.

Long may it continue and I can actually see an award for him this year - probably PFA Young Player.
