Raheem Sterling - 2017/18 performances

I doubt he will ever be a truly clinical finisher, but it's undoubted his movement and overall attacking intelligence is top class.

Many will just look at his goals and say wow big deal, just a tap-in. There is more to it than that, ask and study Frank Lampard.

Yes, I think that's exactly right. He'll never have a great shot — his sense of direction and guidance of the ball is sometimes woeful – and for that purpose, you might as well say that he doesn't have a left foot. We'll just have to resign ourselves to it, because I don't think he's going to improve, somehow.
But he does have something that's at least as valuable, maybe more so. He has a knack of being in the right place at the right time, his movement is excellent, and in a passing team like ours, with people like the two Silvas and KDB who can make pinpoint passes, he will always be in a position to score goals. If he only gets tap ins, that's fine by me.

It's a matter of focusing on what he does well, rather than badly. After all, David Silva isn't a great finisher either.

I also noted how much easier he made Walker's life when he came on.

Must have the best movement in the league, the amount of goalscoring positions he gets into is ridiculous and he works hard to get into them. Showed it again last night, hope he continues to want to score goals, easy to get comfortable when you're doing well, hope he's aiming for 20+ goals because he's more than capable.

Must start vs Chelsea for me.

Wish some of you had been sat around us yesterday - from the moment he came on the tourists were moaning about him - "doesn't track back, doesn't run about like a headless chicken, no control, blah blah bah" Moment he scored they turned on Sane. "Poor decisions. too greedy, ...." I despair, best young players we've had at this club in my time and all some of these idiots can do is moan.

The Sterling I saw yesterday sped up the pace of the game, brought a different dynamic to Jesus's contribution and as others have said his intelligent running off the ball and good use of space put him in the right places to have chances on goal. I think this Inside right position he is playing at the moment is better for him than being wide right and is helping him to get into dangerous places and make things happen - loving it.
