Rangers and debt

They owe money to City I think it's £614:436 BUT all I get is thats the Old Co NOT the New Co
As far as Im concerned until they pay back the money they owe City then we shouldn't have nothing to do
with them

Not sure where you got your information from mate, you might know more than me.

Domestically, Rangers owe: Hearts (£800,000), Dunfermline Athletic (£83,370), Dundee United (£65,981), Celtic (£40,337) and Inverness Caledonian Thistle (£39,805).

English clubs are also owed more than £700,000. This breaks down as: Manchester City (£328,248), Chelsea (£238,345) and Arsenal (£136,560).

European clubs are also owed more than £1.6m, including Rapid Vienna (£1,011,763), St Etienne (£252,212), Palermo (£205,513) and Orebro (£150,000).

Rangers chief executive Charles Green has announced that Rangers’ European football debts have been paid or have been settled with their respective debtors.

The statement on the official Rangers website claimed: “There was no compunction for newco to pay or contribute to any monies owed by the former owners. There was money owed, for example, to Palermo for Dorin Goian and St Etienne for Carlos Bocanegra.”

It continued claiming that Green decided that it was the ‘honourable thing to do’ to settle with those clubs that Rangers owed money too.

Green told the official website: “What we have done since we came to Rangers was to act properly and not just for the best interests of Rangers but for football as a whole. We have a fiduciary duty and a responsibility to our share-holders and we want to run this club honourably and be fully transparent.

“Coming to agreements with all of the European clubs where we paid all of the debts or reached settlements with them is another example of the commitment ‘new’ Rangers have made and not turning our back or walking away from oldco’s responsibilities.

“So we have put down a marker in that regard and what we want to do now is get UEFA and FIFA onside. I have spoken to both organisations informally and in the next few months we will have some formal conversations.”

If Green’s claims are correct then Rangers have paid debt to Rapid Vienna for the remainder of the transfer fee for Nikica Jelavic, GNAS for Mervan Cellik, Palermo for Dorin Goian, St.Etienne for Carlos Bocanegra – not to mention a share of the ticket revenue to Manchester City, Arsenal and Chelsea for friendly games arranged at Ibrox between the sides.

I attended the friendly, Bellamy booed all the game (loan spell at Celtic) Given also had a hard time seems he had a short stay at Parkhead, twat sat behind me with two 5 or 6 year olds sang songs about catholics all the game as my wife is from Co Mayo I was not to impressed. Feel sorry for decent Rangers fans but I can understand why the club is so disliked.
Before any Celtic fans feel a warm glow took my 11 year old daughter to watch Celtic in 1979 IRA stuff on sale big time all round the ground. Never let them join our leagues.

No reason at all why the Scottish football teams Glasgow Rangers and Glasgow Celtic from the Scottish city of Glasgow in Scotland who play in the Scottish league ever should.

Where money is involved there's always a reason.

You mean Rangers and Celtic surely. Glasgow Rangers and Glasgow Celtic don't exist. A bit like Inter Milan.

They would if they were given half a chance.

It would be impossible to happen. Scotland would lose it's UEFA ranking if this happened, and a GB team would take a giant step forward. There is also the devolution question to consider and I doubt if the nationalists would sit back quietly. If UEFA was to be scrapped in favour of the modern day structure of the game [no bad thing], maybe something could happen then, but I can't see this ever happening.
