Celtic were founded by Irish priests to raise money for the Catholic poor of the East end of Glasgow and they’ve always had that Irish link even to this day.Cannot understand why scottish fans bring Ireland into their squabbles. Even more bizzare as very few if any especially in the south gives a toss about either of them or scottish fooball.
Don’t know exactly when the Rangers connection came in but lots of Ulster Protestants came over to Glasgow and got work in the Govan shipyards close to Ibrox and adopted us as their team.
Prior to this, Queens Park were the Scottish answer to what was then seen as the ‘ Irish threat ‘.
