Rangers thread | 2025/26

I know nothing but Rangers supporters and I do not know one who believes they are anywhere near Champions League standard.

Not one

Not even close!

Rangers can compete at Europa league standard.
Apologies.
From the reaction of fans tonight I got the impression they thought they should be beating the likes of Brugge.

I agree at about Europa League and they've put in some quality performances in that competition over the last few years most notably Fenerbahçe and against Spurs.

If you look on Follow Follow, it's pretty toxic. They want him gone ASAP.
92% when I looked

Then again they wanted Liam Kelly to replace Jack Butland

Mick fucking Beale to replace GvB

I tend not to pay much attention to the hysterical mentalists.

Beat betis away to top our group

Dortmund away

Red Bill Leipzig

There is a lengthy list of quality teams at that level we’ve beaten

Topped a group that included Benfica

Qualified automatically in the top 8 last season and we had by far the most difficult initial draw that included both finalists

The booing tonight is just an accumulation of frustration at below par performances.

ETA….Brugge are no World beaters but have a very decent record in European competition recently.

That temperature has been waiting to come out ever since he got the job tbf it was only ever going to take a couple of dodgy results to see some of that lot turn completely against the manager.

Last night was a real horror show in that first half to the point where the quality of opposition pretty much becomes irrelevant, some of those goals were utterly laughable. The fact it was just a huge game for the club just amplified the frustration. Yeah it was toxic on FF. It didn't sound great inside Ibrox either the boos at ht and ft were loud as fk.

Martin is up against it and coming out with stuff like he was proud of the second half will do nothing to buy him any more currency with the fans.

I am not a fan of Scottish football, but there was nothing else on Amazon last night so I watched the first half - Rangers did nothing to make me change my opinion on the state of the game north of the border. All 3 of the Brugge goals were preventable and would not have happened if those defenders had done what they were supposed to be doing - ie, defending. The third one (where the guy chested it and volleyed it in) was almost like slapstick defending from Rangers, I half expected Kevin Keegan to enquire who their defence coach was and give him a job.

Lamentable.

Thanks for that.

Didn’t watch the second half then?

As for the ‘Scottish football lamentable’ …. The guy who made the horrendous error that led to that first half debacle has just been bought by an EPL club and seemingly considered to have a bright future

Our poorest player this season is another EPL loanee that is miles away from what’s needed. Max Aaron’s should be sent back south today!

Juries out on Mickey Moore , another highly rated EPL loanee.

We had Philips from Liverpool and Murphy from Brighton, two absolute useless twats, two of the worst I've seen at Celtic. And we have had a few CB's less than great.

You can watch us tonight at Celtic Park. Hopefully a bit better. EPL no guarentee, some of our worst players came from there.

Looks like Farage can count of this guys vote. Probably make him Scottish Chairman. He's on that level.

Agree with all that but think Moore might be ok

I haven’t watched the post match interviews yet. In fairness to the manager he has to cling to the positives in a two leg tie as we’ve another torrid 90 minutes to endure.

No excusing the mistakes made in defence , I keep seeing Djiga leaving that ball over and over in my head, and hopefully it’s hammered home to certain players that this might be a loan move / a stepping stone but they are playing for Rangers and there are certain expectations and standards that got a long with that… it’s not a season long fucking holiday!!

IF that second goal stands I think we could have gone on to get the third as we were well on top at that stage and the crowd was right behind the team but that VAR decision really just deflated everybody. I’ve seen others on here say it’s a goal but in my honest opinion it’s a toss of a coin. I actually thought we had a decent shout for a late penalty for challenge on Gassama at back post but again it’s a tight decision that just went against us.

Move on to a very difficult away game against an inform St Mirren. Never the easiest of places to go against a very physical side. One things for sure. It’s going to be a battle and the players better be up for it!

Yeh. Seemingly Spurs fans were surprised he was loaned out.

If he starts on Sunday he’s in for a warm welcome.

He should start anyway cause he cant be any worse than most of them that have started this season ( forwards )

He should start along with the kid who scored the winner against them lot last season ( 2-3 ) and the lad from Sheffield Wednesday

Martin is staring down the barrel if he doesn't get a result on Sunday

On the flip side of that you’ve had Denayer and Boyata from City who were not too shabby.

The kid is Hamza Igamane. Very unpredictable player but could have a big future. A few of the top French clubs keeping tabs on him. I believe he hasn’t settled well and looking to leave this window. Good luck to the lad and if he goes we should make plenty on the deal

Yeah didn't he get linked with a move to Lille for 15 million this summer , he certainly should be starting whilst he is at the club .

Thoughts on Martin ?

He will remain with you until you reduce that ridiculous £15m price tag.

If hes worth that why was he on the bench?

Isnt worth £5m

We're just back in that sorry phase of not really being able to go into any game with confidence that we'll win. That even includes bloody Alloa at the weekend. Incidentally that first goal conceded at the weekend is right up there with the most comically shambolic goals I've seen conceded and yet we go and do that after 2 minutes yesterday, and you could tell that goal sucked the life right out of the whole crowd.

Next week isn't over of course it isn't. Early goal, early red card etc all the usual stuff that can change the course of a game but realistically we know it's done. A draw at the weekend honestly wouldn't surprise me and then the OF the week after, I've already said I think Celtic have the capacity to absolutely rinse us with all the spaces we leave in dangerous areas of the pitch. Last seasons performances against them won't matter one bit because Martin obviously won't set us up any differently and that just sets us up for a hiding.

I really don't like being negative towards the club and wanted to give RM as much time as possible but we've got to see something in return. Some evidence of incremental improvement. It seems to be getting more farcical by the game at the minute. I don't see us winning any of the next 3 games on current form and by then God only knows what the atmosphere will be like, especially if we've been done by Celtic at Ibrox.

The owners are known for doing things their way and sticking to their guns regardless of outside noise. I think their resolve will be tested as severely as it ever has been before by this fanbase when it comes to how patient they're willing to be with Russell Martin.
