Rangers thread | 2025/26

A nine-point gap would arguably be insurmountable across the remaining league fixtures, and dropping out of the Champions League would probably reduce the money and prestige that could be earned. In both instances, that reduces Rangers’ ability to close the long-term gap on Celtic, who in turn need do precious little more to sustain their dominance.

If the domestic cups and a run in a secondary European trophy are all that’s left come September 1st, then that’s disappointing.
The board never expected to reach the Champions League and given the draw we had we are actually £5 million ahead of where we expected to be

Financially Rangers are secure and now owned by one of the richest sporting franchises in World sport

I’ve said from day one we can achieve more in the Europa league for ourselves and the countries coefficient.

At this point Rangers have no delusions of grandeur and know their place in the grand scheme. We are a million miles away from expecting to be competing in the champions league

Just for the record , once more, I did not want RM as manager. I don’t think he will be a long term success. I believe the football we are being served up is absolute dross. I just don’t believe this board will sack him this early into his tenure. I don’t think the board give a toss what I think or any other supporter. My hope is he walks away but I very much doubt that’s going to happen.

i presumed we would miss out on europa league if we go out?
Nope. Even losing to Plzen meant Europa League football. Beating Plzen guaranteed at worst Europa group stages and £5 million parachute payment

No matter their pragmatism, when they saw the fixture card, I’m sure the Rangers board did not expect to have harvested three points from the opening three games. Based on recent seasons and Rangers’ points gained before meeting Celtic, a defeat next weekend and it’s going to be terribly difficult to sustain a title challenge. That will be a harsh reality for the board to face, all before the first frost of winter. You might be right and they’ll persist with Martin, but it’ll be a long season.

If they go out of the CL in midweek, then lose to Celtic, they have no choice but to go all out to win the Europa League. The league will be gone; they'll be 9 pts and at least 8 goals worse off. There can't be any Rangers fans that think they'd be able to reel Celtic back in in such a scenario. Yes, Celtic will drop silly points somewhere. Guaranteed. But, in my opinion, Rangers will drop more.

Yes, an easy start to give them a redhand hasn't fully worked out as their pals had hoped. Oh well.

If? Have you had a bump to the cranium? Can't win a game in the league. I know the EL is filled with teams that used to be good. But even then.

I mean, he might be a shit manager but he gets to go home to Lucy Pinder so he's always a winner in fairness

Win the Europa League???? Ffs : )))))))))

Still cannot get my head around the Martin appointment.

Genuinely one of the worst managers I think I have seen in the PL in the last 15 years.

Spurs won it last season, after finishing 17th in their domestic league!
How much did Spurs spend on their squad?

I know we outplayed them in a one off game but we are nowhere near winning the Europa League

I honestly think we will struggle in next round of our League Cup at home to Hibs

We will see things a lot clearer at the end of the window. Looks like Igamane is away and possibly Dessers with Bojan Miovski coming in. I’d be reasonably happy with Bojan , plus it’ll piss off The Sheep which is never a bad thing. We need another left back, creative / play making midfielder and possibly another decent striker
