Rangers thread | 2025/26

Just watched the highlights on YT. Rangers seemed to have enough of the ball, but didn't take their chances. Noticed quite a few empty seats dotted around the stadium; fans had enough of him, boycotting the game?

He’s learned nothing.

He’s an arrogant **** of a man.

He says he has a good relationship with Rangers fans he meets in the West End. Come out of his Byres Road bubble and he would get a totally different reaction

Blaming the players. Blaming the crowd. Blaming the officials. Laughable stuff.

Worst start in 50 years. Statistically the worst Rangers manager in 150+ years.

I’m struggling to think of anybody involved in football I dislike more at the moment.

I just cannot get my head round why he thought his possession based football was going to work here. GvB had us flying in Europe but his ‘horseshoe’ football didn’t work. GvB was eventually sacked and that after being one kick away from our greatest ever result. RM never had the credit in the bank

I’m just counting the days until this arrogant piece of shit is out my club and we can move on
 
Theres nothing whatsoever to cling to from what we're seeing. Not winning a game in the league at this stage is scandalous. The performances are shocking and getting worse. Players who have started well in certain positions are now getting shifted out of position or dropped altogether (namely Gassama and Curtis). Every presser with him is a car crash now. 2 of the fan media guys absolutely had him on toast in the presser after the game and his responses to their questions were laughable.

He's so far out of his depth it's unbelievable. I cannot fathom a single good reason why this board would stick with him at this point. The only possible mitigation I can think of is they're busy trying to identify a competent replacement so when the inevitable bullet comes for Martin, the next guy is ready to step in straight away. Whoever that may be.

Who else was in the running with Martin for the rangers job.

I have no idea mate. There were various names linked before he got the job but who knows how serious those links ever were. That's the concern. If we couldn't get a more suitable guy for the job just a couple of months ago then who's to say that man is there for us now that the window is shut and any new manager would be working with Russell Martin's squad.

It's a complete mess. I can't give you a name of who should or who would even want the job now but it's so obvious that the current manager is not up to the job.

£600k? That seems like a very low annual wage. How many years of his contract to run? So itvwas a 2 year contract at £200k a year. Ally was on £800k a year when you were playing Domino teams.

Is that not just the fee that could have been set to terminate his contract early? Obviously before his contract gets to the point of being worth less than that of course. I can't imagine that's all his actual contract is worth.

Either way, whatever the cost pay up and get him to fk.

McCoist was on more than that. He was on double what Lennon was on and you were playing Barcelona in Champions League and our ‘foreign’ games were Berwick Upon Tweed!! Still pisses me off to this day

Davide Ancelloti who actually turned down chance to follow his father to asst manage Brazil. He was also linked to another job in a top 5 league

But Russell Martin was the outstanding candidate

The new model is the fraud bastard is a coach and the players are bought by Kevin Thelwell to fit the way the owners want the game played.

To blooter him must be more than £600k then. I would imagine about £3m. Probably your most beneficial.spend this season.

His utter pish after games, drives me mad too. I cannot listen to him either and I want his contract extended.

That figure comes from fairly reliable posters on FF so probably accurate. Managers have these figures in their contracts to protect clubs from utter failures like this fraud.

He’s fast reaching Charles Green , Craig Whyte , Easdale Brothers and Ashley levels. If he had anything about him he’d take his money and run. I’m getting angrier by the day
 
@No.8 will you be there on Saturday? Reading a lot about a possible boycott in the stands until he's gone. I know a lot of that is driven by the usual hysteria on FF but with this, it's hard to not get swept along with it because it's so clear for all to see that this isn't working and change is needed asap (again).

I’m not going to any non season ticket games until that fraud bastard is out the club. I was considering buying the Europa League package but forget that.

I’ve been through good times and bad and honestly Saturday was amongst the worst. It’s the hope that kills you… I like to think I’m quite level headed when it comes to football and I know where we are in the grand scheme. For once I believed this was the dawning of our brave new world but RM was a huge mistake. To not have sacked him now is just staggering. For me there is no way back for Martin. As soon as he had a dig at the support that was it for me!! Arrogant **** of a man!

Patrick Stewart and Kevin Thelwell need to get the next manager call right. For the money we spent on Antmann and the lad from Everton we could have signed Sima , proven at the club, Cerny proven at the club and the young lad from Hibs who is proven in the league
