nice one Centurion!
I had the tv on whilst on the pc and seen this documentary based in American universities, I am in shock what folk can get away with stateside.

The hunting ground is an excellent documentary based on raising awareness amongst Colleges about their Fraternities.
I found this disturbing but the colleges response was even worse, sometimes even the law were guilty of turning their heads away.

Trailer:

news report on issue:

Don't know if that's the one I've seen, but they do have a problem, and it appears that although they don't have a class system, they certainly have a privilege system. The 'jocks' do seem to get away with whatever they want, and the 'frat' houses appear to be above the law.

One scene shows fifty guys outside a women`s dorm chanting..... No means yes, yes means an@l. Shocking stuff. Many victims have committed suicide because they were ostracised by their college, rather than deal with the issue. Protect the institution by ignoring victims and leave them to bullying gangs. sad sad stuff.

Sadly,

This kind of "Frat" behaviour could come, or already be here.

There is a great deal of respectable opinion out there which claims that the alleged rape culture at US colleges is a myth.

US universities are at the forefront of the lunacies of political correctness with their snowflake students, microaggressions, safe spaces, trigger warnings and denial of free speech to anyone who dares to disagree with the 'correct' point of view.

Such is the demented, hysterical atmosphere at many US colleges that I'd warn men students to be very careful. Any accusation of sexual assault is likely to be bad for the accused even if it becomes very obvious he was innocent.

Exactly! The men are victims.

US Colleges are, to a large degree, the first time sexually and alcohol repressed young males are away from the structure of their home, patents, and all other restrictions they have faced to that point in their lives.

It is certainly not ubiquitous, but what it does do is allow, often privileged white males, to be protected from the wider legal ramifications of sexual assault by keeping it in house to the college....for purely financial reasons.

Having gone to two American universities, I can attest to the fact that these things are OFTEN KNOWN, by the name of the fraternities or sports teams. If you are a woman on a campus and sexually assaulted, you HAVE TO FILE POLICE CHARGES that are NOT THE CAMPUS POLICE, WHO ARE BEHOLDEN TO THE SCHOOL.

Given that multiple studies of campus sexual assault show that 90-95% of sexual assaults are shown to be "real," and that the others MAY have also been real, but could not be shown to have been legally called sexual assault!

It is always easy to dismiss this subject, especially as males, but as a father with a 20 year old daughter in university right now, it is my greatest fear for her at Uni. It is real, it is life-altering, and if it ever happened to you as a father, imagine what it would do to you, let alone your daughter.

.

It is also the first time a lot of young women will have been away from the care of their mollycoddling, overprotective parents and exposed to the inhibitions of alcohol.

We live in strange times when a drunken male student and a drunken female one can have sex and the female one is allowed to claim it was rape in the morning.

This attitude is deeply sexist as it supposes that men are perfectly capable of consenting to sex while drunk but women are not.

Such old-fashioned attitudes about the inferiority and weakness of women do not belong in the modern world, and should be condemned by all feminists.

Spot on! I have been affiliated with four US universities full time for the last 25 years. This is a real issue and those that dismiss it as Political Correctness and refer to rape victims as "Snowflake Students" are just as responsible for the problem as the men committing the sexual assaults.

Old fashioned attitudes? Like as long as the woman was hanging out with you all night you have the right to fuck her regardless of what she wants?

Urmston,

I'm sure it is not your intent, but you come across as a rape apologist and someone who condones sexual assault.

I agree that both sexes are away from home for the first time, yet I have yet to hear of a woman giving a Mickey to a guy to fuck the shit out of him, or fingering his arse while he is unconscious, or pinning him down while he unwillingly accepts her vagina!!!

Your "sexist" equivalency is laughable at best and disturbing at worst. Have you been accused of sexual assault, by chance, because you sound like you are in the dock telling the jury, "but she was wearing a short skirt and no bra, so of course she was telegraphing to me that she was asking for it....even if she WAS unconscious at the time. She didn't say 'No' either, so how could it have been rape?!"

Frat houses and frat boys are the same types of wankers we have over here who dismiss bullying as 'banter'.

I am. He's a troll and he's always coming out with this sort of shit. If he believed half of what he says on here, he'd be a vile individual.

Sadly,

This kind of "Frat" behaviour could come, or already be here.
The behaviour exists to some extent, but there's less incentive for universities here to cover it up. We don't have universities giving people places purely because they are good at sports, for example. We also have a situation where university students are legally able to buy alcohol, so you don't get people relying on frat houses for alcohol and parties.

I mean would a rape victim in the UK really go to the university administration rather than the police? That's the thing that always confuses me about these stories.

She could claim it, but that wouldn't mean it would be rape. But the examples in the video are of a woman who was passed out. There's no grey area there.

Also, am I the only person who once they get to that level of drunkeness would be incapable of performing anyway?

Your response is tiresomely predictable.

Someone disagrees with you and the best you can do is to speculate that he is in favour of sexual assault and has done it himself.

That is a hysterical way to reply to anyone, though not unexpected about a subject which often attracts such politically correct, ideologically driven intolerance of dissent from people who cannot argue a case properly and prefer to indulge in silly personal insults.

I am of the opinion that the college rape epidemic is non-existent, and is a myth. So do plenty of other people, including those in the links I provided in a previous post.

Like the Catholic paedophile issue and the current police shootings problem though, the issue isn't just the crimes themselves, but what happens after they occur. And we've seen time and again US colleges fundamentally failing in dealing with this issue and covering it up at every opportunity. Putting the reputation of the university above the safety of their female students.

We've seen colleges put their reputation above the welfare of their male students too by failing to properly investigate rape claims and being too quick to believe an accuser.

For example, the famous Duke lacrosse case which cost the university a rumoured $60 million in compensation to three men.
