Overall, I'd say the signing of Pizzaro was on par with everyone around us. An experienced backup. 6/10..
I think it is silly to expect the kind of major haul we have had the last couple of years. Our team is pretty big now, so additions have to be shrewd.
To really rate our window, compare us to those around us.
United: Paul Scholes (36 yearold and ex-retired)- Backup
Tottenham: Luis Saha (34 year old backup Striker) Ryan Nelsen (Backup CB) and a kid they loaned out.
Chelsea: Cahill (Backup Centerback) DeBruyne (Loaned back to his club) Bamford (youth striker)
Arsenal: Henry (34 yearold Backup Striker) Eisfeld (youth midfielder- Talented but still a youth player)
Liverpool: Jordan Ibe (Fantasrtic youth player) But again a youth player.
Newcastle: Pappise Cisse (Very good striker)
So of the top 7, the only team that bought a likely starter was Newcastle, in Cisse. Everyone else pretty much got backups for varyng positions. We are no different. And seeing as we are at the top of the table, I'd say we have kept status Quo.
The league will be won with whatever team you had to start the season.
This January transfer window was really for teams trying to stave off relegation:
QPR, Norrich and Swansea did themselves huge favors. I thought Swansea had the best window, and QPR added the most talent. And finally, I think Norrich might have gotten the best player in this window in the person of Jonny Howson. I can see all 3 promotees sticking around for one more season.
