Has anyone checked his track record?

Fluffed the Wirtz thing heavily

Hasn't he been rumored to be attracting interest from plenty of mid table sides for numerous years now? Has there been a sudden upturn in his performances to attract our interest or are we shopping a tier below where we should be?
There's been a massive upturn in his performances and he was one of the best chance creators in all of Europe this season.

A lot are thinking it's a player making good on his massive potential.

As much as getting Cherki for this fee is great business. It should be known that this lad is a very clear step below Florian Wirtz at this current moment in time. Not saying this to be pessimistic but I don't want us starting the dialogue of Wirtz vs Cherki as some nonce Liverpool supporters tried to start with the Haaland vs Darwin shite.

No doubt in my mind our board would rather sign Wirtz for 100m than this lad even for 30m, despite what they're saying in the media. Still, top creator which is exactly what we need at this moment. Great bit of business from City if we can get him in. The future looks promising!
I think Cherki isn’t that far apart from Wirtz as many think. I also believe that Cherki has an even higher ceiling due to his dribbling and being both footed.
Wirtz isn’t a KDB lvl playmaker where you know he is HIM.
Yes Wirtz is the best in this generation but Wirtz is not 3-4 times more worth then Cherki. I don’t see it.

Nobody is arguing he's "3-4 times more worth," but he's a clear cut above, and we're the best team in the world. This small gap can be the difference between a City legend vs a rotational player.

I'm sure the average bloke would consider a New York striploin to be better value than a small filet mignon, but doesn't take away from the fact the filet is better! Man city are rich enough to get the premium option when offered to them.

Unfortunately Wirtz has his eyes elsewhere (no idea why he wants to join the scouse). Nobody here is calling Cherki shit mate. He's a top top player. But Wirtz is far more of a sure thing. Not to be arrogant but I don't give a fuck if he's better value. Give me that top shelf when I can get it. In this case, Cherki is a great back up plan that I hope we can pull off for this great value.

He has 12 goals 20 assists for a bang average Lyon team. His stats are rivaling and bettering some of the PSG players.

The consensus built up around him is that he is a maverick player with an "attitude" problem, but many in France think this is nonsense and think it's more to do with the fact he is so much better than everyone else on his team and as a result he gets frustrated.

If you remember, De Bruyne was like this at Genk and Chelsea. He felt he was too good for Genk and too good to be a bench player for Chelsea and sulked, so Mourinho booted him out.

I also think many look at his style of play and think because he doesn't pass sideways and keep the ball and dares to take his man on and play the ball forward he is a selfish player. It's nonsense.

Whoever gets him will be getting an elite quality player.

I think there's other elements to the attitude problem.

It seems he is in his hometown as the prodigal son, and the pressure on him is immense as well, maybe him just getting out of France, and having him come here and focus on football and winning will fix this.
