I'm not sure of that at all. None of our player sales has been particularly impressive under him, they're even rather disappointing. But as everyone knows that he is in dire need of cash, he doesn't have much leverage.

If he gets €40m for Cherki, it would still be laughable business on his side. And I don't think it'll reach this amount.
Out of interest, what is your own take here as a fan (appreciate it may not reflect the wider fan base views).

If the rumours are true that Cherki had a gentleman's agreement clause of €25m, would you rather see the club honour that, or frustrate the player and buying club byt ultimately get an extra €5-10m. What would you prefer to see happen?

I heard from sources in France that Lyon’s asking price is close to €50 million — not the €40 million we all assumed.
That’s also why we’ve been so quiet over the past couple of days. Viana is working hard to lower the price and negotiate a smaller initial payment.
But there’s no need to panic — Lyon demanding a high fee was always to be expected.
Cherki only wants to join Manchester City and is strongly hoping to make it in time for the Club World Cup.
The expectation is that the deal will be signed by Tuesday.

Is it correct that if we miss the 7 p.m. deadline tomorrow, he would miss the group phase, but there will be another window to register players for the knockout rounds if we advance?

OL are desperate for cash

Cherki by all accounts is desperate for the move, apparently we are the only club he wants

We are very keen to sign him

All these factors suggest it’s most likely that a compromise deal will be done today. Doesn’t help OL to have a pissed off player

Incidentally I note Typical City has been referred to in this thread. For me Typical City isn’t at all about negativity, it’s about irony, humour and our history. The negativity tends to be from the more entitled post 2008 type fans, those who weren’t actually brought up with what Typical City really felt like. Just my opinion

This has got the signs of it falling through.

Lyon hardballing cos they neeed every million possible in need of their dire financial position.

His agent knows at the relatively "cut price" fee there will be other interested clubs.

He looks a class player and will improve us no doubt.

But my view is that I'd never heard of him before we was linked. Unlike reijnders, where his name was getting mentioned every week.
Looks more like Viana is trying to rinse them as per Romano Tweets

Personally i knew of him for like 2 years

From Fifas website:

"Participating clubs will also be able to replace and add players during a restricted in-competition period from 27 June to 3 July 2025 within a set limit and according to specific limitations, including the fact that a “standard” registration window must be open for the club at the time. The objective is to encourage clubs and players whose contracts are expiring to find an appropriate solution to facilitate the players’ participation. This will ensure that the best players will be playing, allowing clubs to add new recruits even during the tournament"

Has it heck. Negotiations take time, it has all the signs of a compromise being reached. Relax
