As I posted earlier my guess is the aircraft was there having flown from London this morning so none had to be repositioned cuts the cost of the flight Rayan was in Stuttgart which isn't too far away So, boils down to the the availability of the aircraft at short notice

And the fact they are 200km apart, doesn't make sense how much it's dressed up really, but who cares he's here and that is all that matters now, unless he's got a false leg that is

It wouldn't surprise me to see one of the highly rated academy players going there. We have a good number, now, of very talented youngsters who are ready to push for a first team place. A player like Mukasa, as one example, could easily be taken by Dortmund and turned to a 50m player in three years.

Why would we lose any player on a free? It's unlikely we'd send a highly rated player in the last year of their contract.
