Just something to throw in the pot. Did Kompany make a tackle or an interception? Nani had not touched the ball from the pass therefore he would be deemed as not being in control of the ball - so how could he have been tackled?

You're making up rules. The Laws of the Game don't give any definition of the word 'tackle'

It says nowhere in the laws of the game a two footed tackle is a straight red card, it is a myth. The wording used is 'wreckless without control'. A yellow is 'careless'.
I know which one I would use to describe that tackle.

Wow. Where did you get that from? As a ref, I'm telling you that you REALLY need to get your facts straight.

1. 'Careless' is the word used to describe a challenge that doesn't require a card, unless of course it's for Persistent Infringement.
2. 'Reckless' (note there's no 'w' in it) is used to describe a challenge that merits a yellow card
3. A red card is shown when a player uses excessive force, excessive brutality or endangers an opponent's safety when challenging for the ball
