Was anybody on here brought up in a household that could afford to sit in the Maine stand?

I was on the back row of the Main Stand ( H block in the middle) until I could be trusted to catch a train and go by myself.

Was the main stand on Maine Road officially known as the "Main" Stand or the "Maine" Stand??

neither - it started life as the mane stand, after a large lion that used to feature on the city of manchester coat of arms - then became the mayne stand, after the coach company that sponsored a number of seats.

the rest is history.

anyone know why The Windy Corner was so called?

I have heard that it was because of the high proportion of the spectators that stood there that visited the curry mile before the game, leading to a lot of wind by the start of the second half.

Now that is an urban myth. The lion-in-question's mane took its name from the Main Stand and not the other way round. You'll find it all in Gary James' excellent recent book.
