re: the penalty appeals tonight

Why is it that everything seems to turn into a bitter dispute on here these days? One thing that in the words of Peter Griffin 'grinds my gears' is when someone is fighting their case, they feel the need to ALWAYS bring up grammar/spelling as a means of argument. Having already pointed the finger at the OP for his spelling, the posters rebuttal should probably include the correct spelling of 'knob-head' should we be petty on such matters.
<a class="postlink" href="http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=knob%20head" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.p ... nob%20head</a>

But on topic, everyone is going to cheer for these penalty shouts as everyone wants to get behind the team and hope any chance could push the side on for victory. Appealing in cricket is far too over-zealous these days but perhaps people are beginning to feel that their appeals reap rewards. Maybe thats right, maybe its not but if you feel the need to hate the injustice so much next time City get a dodgy penalty, I'll be very surprised to see you walking for the exit.

We've not had many decisions at home recently but the way the fans are reacting is getting a bit embarrassing and dare I say it a bit 'rag-esque'.

For those that watched it on the telly, was it a red card?

Maybe that's because folk who can't spell are generally a bit dim..? Hence they should not disagree with those of superior intelligence..? ;)

Not a chance. At first I thought it was Tevez who the ref had sent off for the way he "stamped" down on the ball in that Barton-esque way.

I've seen people sent off for less but he did seem to play the ball. Legs got tangled and perhaps from the ref's POV it may have looked as though Caldwell's right leg was making contact around Tevez's shin area but wasn't the case. A tad harsh and a certain game changer but as I said, I've seen others walk for less while others get away with more.

Although it looked a bad challenge I thought at the time it wasn't as bad as people probably thought but do you know what, I'm pretty glad someone has got a red for a challenge on him. For the past few months he's been kicked to shit with not enough protection, it's about time someone paid for it

No, i thought it was tevez who was sent off as his was worse out of the two.

i thought tevez was the one getting sent off tbh

Some of the self-loathing on here really is becoming bizarre.

Every set of supporters in the country would react in exactly the same way to those incidents.

Oh, and it's a good thing the OP (and others) don't support Everton, lest they be horrified at the crowd appealing for handball every time an opposition player makes contact with it.

Carlos is too quick and his never give up attitude was rewarded for that penalty
I think 8 out of 10 times that would be given as a red card

this is strange that some people thought tevez was going to be sent off because i went mental because it looked like a straight red for the wigan player

^^^ this.. and was right in front of me.!

Been looking for a video of the red card because at the time I thought it was a straight red for Caldwell. Both feet were off the ground and he turned his body to make sure he scissored Tevez. Didn't see any 'stamping' from Tevez.

However enough people have said they thought Tevez should have walked so maybe I'm wrong.

I thought the handball from Caldwell (I think it was him) was a penalty. His arm was away from his body to block the shot and I seem to remember Dunne and possibly Lescott having penalties given against them for exactly the same things.

I thought there was a trip on Tevez by Scharner as well (wigan players may be wrong my memory isn't what it was).

I personally spend a few seconds appealing for a penalty whenever there is an incident in the box because you never know when you're gonna get one. Don't see that there is any harm in it unless you start going mental if it is not given.

I thought the one where caldwell slid in with his arms outstreched to block the pass was a definite penalty

Tevez going down after the contact was one of those where the losing control of the ball always go against you but sometime you get them.

There was a 2nd handball one that reminded me of the decision against Barry at Fulham, but I am struggling to remember the other 6 penalty appeals.
