Real Madrid (A) | CL | Post Match Thread

Have said it before.
These players are knackered, both mentally and physically from playing every single game they could have at club and national level for the past 4-5 years.
It’s finally taken it’s toll.
Getting knocked out at an early stage of a competition we are just not good enough to win in our current state is a blessing.
It will drastically reduce the number of fixtures and lengthy travels and give the squad a much needed rest.
Concentrate on top 4 and a flutter with the FA cup will do just fine. It’s just not feasible to sustain the levels we have achieved for any longer.
Next season will be a different story once much needed summer squad refreshment happens.
Those calling for Pep to go should give their heads a fucking massive wobble. He’s still the best.
You put it better than I ever could.

That’s the spirit
Don't be daft,

The penalty decision was dubious at best, wasn't given but we scored after it.

People thinking we should have had 2 goals because of that incident are clutching,

If the pen incident happened AFTER we had scored then it's a completely different conversation.

I wonder what people watch and how they understand football at times.

That game turned after 5 minutes with their shit goal and Stones' injury. Fucking bad luck for us but sums up the season.

Actually glad now we didn’t hold onto that 2-1 lead from the first leg cos losing so feebly if we’d have real hope would have hurt like fuck

But the way it happened tonight I’m not really that arsed

I am reading his latest book, its a pattern and always repeated.

Whatever he was describing few years ago, its the same.

I will keep him for one more season, hopefully next season he can win the league and then we can say goodbye to Pep.
So you’d get rid of a manager who wins the league after a team rebuild ?
You’re on some seriously strong shit mate.

Think he ran 12K tonight, the most of any player. But he was a one man midfield v 4 Los blancos
We will see - hope He is a world beater. Running 12k means nothing for a 22 year old . League 1 players do it all the time. (Obviously he is way above league 1) for me I don’t see a top 4 player ans i think we have paid over the odds (i knowwe had to)

Playing a quality side with pace and making basic errors, was only going to end with one outcome.

Early goal and Stones injured summed up this season. We never had the mentality to do anything from then onward.

Two goal margin flattered us tonight.

Just got back to our hotel, felt we needed to keep it tight and early goal was a killer. We haven’t got the personnel to throw everything at them so seemed a tame performance with top 4 the main target.

I want Pep to stay as long as possible, however, I can’t help feeling we’ll be more successful in Europe with a more pragmatic manager who plays teams like Madrid at their own game with time wasting in tight games.

I don’t like Madrid but I’d rather lose to a team who can win the competition than someone who overperforms against us.

Can’t help but feel that any rebuild that occurs without a change to the way we play is destined to age badly.

You would hope the club can see this isn’t a simple case of changing players and we pick up where we left off. While I don’t think we’re as severe as United I do think their biggest downfall was them being stuck in their Ferguson ways.
We don't do standard football - we do counter intuitive, inventive football - very difficult to do as the page is turning on some stellar careers. We have the most progressive, unique coach in the history of football. Some fans talk rubbish about 'teams working us out and catching up'. I'm massively impressed by our new signings - rare to see January signings hit the ground running - no-one can hold today's performance against the new signings. We'll start next season with a younger starting eleven - Marmoush, Gonzalez and Khusanov bedded in. We will look very different. But we should be eternally grateful to our legends who took us to places we never dreamed of going.

Well done the fans who went over there you should all get a refund from the club you shouldnt have to make the effort when the club doesn't
I agree but it's not on the club the players should have a whip round for their embarrassing performances. CTID

On reflection it's a bit annoying,

We scored 3 goals against Madrid whilst being shit for most of the tie.

All we had to do was defend but we couldn't.

I hope tonight was a lesson learnt for a few (Savinho, Marmoush, Gonzo) because they were anonymous.

Foden, Bernardo, Gundo played at their exhausted and washed out level.

Tonight was the perfect storm for Madrid, we just fucking froze.

Hope they get fucking mullerd by whoever they play next.

Spanish fucking Dippers,

Pep is marathon manager (League) , not 100meter race ( CL )

Away from Messi, he always struggles in the Champions league.

He managed them after winning 6 trophies including the Champions league but he failed to do well with Bayern.

With City, it's a heartbreak after heartbreak each season with him.

Look at Liverpool, they replaced Klopp with someone nobody's know

They spent less than City, and he is miles ahead of Pep right now in all competitions.

You put it better than I ever could.
Absolutely bang on , some of these cunts on here are like those despicable cunts who flog a donkey to death carrying payloads up mountains all day and every day , and when they fall to their knees and can’t sustain it anymore , they just throw them off the side of the mountain.
Let’s get another shiny new toy , because I can’t handle being second best for a season or two.
When Pep leaves we will be back in the wilderness if we are not careful, because a section of our fans are like spoilt little children and will air there views to whoever takes his place, that’s it’s not good enough for their high standards , it’s like a fucking Willywonka sketch on here.

This is not an 'off season' or a 'transition' we've fallen off a cliff. Its not acceptable.
It's one bad season in nine - extraordinary. At this stage of the season, every side is exactly where they deserve to be - no ifs, no buts, no cuddas, no shuddas, no maybes, no false positions. We're fourth in the Prem - a good base to kick on from. We also have the greatest striker on the planet - 49 Champions League goals in 48 games. What's Mbappe's record - colossal player though he is - 54 Champions League goals in 85 games.

Agree with most of that. But

How would you rate pep this season? We have been thrashed multiple times by average sides. Do you think he has any responsibility for those defeats?
