Real Madrid (A) | CL | Post Match Thread

The game didn't tell us anything we didn't already know. An ageing midfield, gets dominated by a young, hungry, energetic and talented opponent. Defensively we were a bit all over the place aswell but we haven't had a settled back 4 all season, so there's just no cohesion there. I'd also question how fit the likes of Dias and Ake are at the moment. As soon as haaland was on the bench, our main goal threat was gone so we had pretty much no chance against such a quality team. Even in our treble winning season we didn't go to the Bernabeu and win, so my expectations were zero.

What did frustrate me was seeing the same old tired team going through the motions and basically waving the white flag after half an hour. The likes of Bernardo and Gundo just look physically done. They were losing every 50/50 ball. Gonzales was a one man midfield in there (he didnt have the best of games but I felt sorry for him tbh) and the setup from Pep was bizarre. Savinho been causing allsorts of problems out wide so to play him up top was strange.

A proper going through the motions season for us and one we can't really resolve until the summer with younger, hungrier players. I do like the look of the new signings though. Marmoush looks a threat at times and Khusanov, whilst he had a bit of a torrid game at times, he's a fighter. His recovery pace and willingness to sprint back and fight is great to see.

Not sure what would have offended anybody in my post, but I'm too old and too ugly to care about every cliché CTID on here.

I'm also a life-long supporter, but not dopey enough to decide to hate everything somebody says, just because once he disagreed with one of my mates from the terraces.

Football fan snobbery can either be funny, or just boring.
I have no clue what that even means.....you're on here to troll or WUM....since last Christmas !

lifelong blue my arse

It's debatable whether he's the best manager in the world. He was for sure but so was Mourinho at one point and now look at him.
Wenger was very good until he wasn't. Ditto Clough. 3 managers who continued long after their sell by date.
With Pep we can't be sure although current evidence suggests he's at best confused.

With the rebuild you suggest we'll have a better picture this time next year.
Even GPC held on for 2 years too long. The game where Komps scored against them in the run in in for Aguerooooo, they didnt have one shot on target. He shit himself (the hard shoulder shitting twat).
Then he hung on for another year for totally selfish narcissistic reasons, yes won the title but left them in that much of a state that they STILL havent recovered

He's a fucking wum who needs fucking off. He was going on about the goal that sealed our 100 points at Southampton, who he allegedly supports as well as ourselves and said Sterling scored it!
Thought I was the only one who spotted that.

I can accept that - but it was a younger bunch doing the pressing, wasn't it?
No, there were 2 changes, one enforced in Haaland (injured), the other bringing in an experienced CB, who caused the first goal.

I wouldn't mind of they'd played well in either leg, they didn't.

The shit start, stupid goal, and Stones getting injured, took away any confidence we had, what followed was pretty much embarrasing.

So when City win away in Europe the Club can say Ok you have to pay double because we won
I fully understand its not easy and cheap to go away games in the champions league, but its a choice you make
exactly and watching football isn't always about winning games. How could it be?

My post was responding to a post about the Newcastle match?

christ.

Were becoming more like them enitled fuck nuggerts in london
It isn't being entitled. We can have an off season that doesn't involve getting slapped every other week. If he is the best manager in the world, and we have some of the best players in the world, better than this shite served up should be a given. Being a happy clapper doesn't get you any extra loyalty points.

I was posting yesterday about accepting we will go out, but have a bit of fight, a bit of heart and attack as we can. We offered none of that, very similar to that shit show over there under Pellegrini when we didn't have a shot on target and we only needed one goal to progress. Accepting we will go out but wanting some heart from my team isn't entitled.

Still employing the worst set piece coach in England just shows how badly the management at the top has taken its eyes off the ball and settled for 3rd rate. Coaching staff needs a huge overall as aside from the worst set pieces around, we cannot defend, cannot attack, awful fitness levels and injury after injury, we are supposed to have world class training and medical facilities, do we actually use them anymore,
you do know that our set piece coach is stevie wonder .

A fanny who replied to me claiming I am entitled for daring to question Pep and pointing out facts. That suggests he will happily sit and clap whilst questioning nothing. Might be an unhappy clapper for all I know

The £180 million we spent in Jan will be a drop in ocean compared to what we need to spend in the Summer. I just hope the quality of player we need will be available. It is imperative we qualify for CL to make this happen.
We don't know how City will evolve. Echeverri may never make it, but in his age-group, and position, he is the best player. At 19 is almost there. If he makes it, we don't need to do anything.

6, Rodri
8, Foden
10, Echeverri
9, Haaland

So simple the game plan from Madrid last night when out of possession make the pitch compact so we couldn't play through the lines. And when in possession spread the pitch wingers and full backs wide with mbappe running in behind gave them a 3 on 3 in medieval which they would easily win as their players had legs and energy ours haven't. We never tried anything to combat this which was worrying why not play long in behind ourselves? Why not play more legs in the middle? Same all season away from home against the better teams pep needs to lose his loyalty to his senior players that have brought him so much success.

I've no defence - it's a f*cking blind spot that I've embarrassed myself, and lost money over, before in the pub.
I see Sterling goal and link it straight to the 100 points.

If we do nothing for the third successive summer we are in big trouble next season again.
