Real Madrid (A) | CL | Post Match Thread

We really should have won 3 champions leagues if we're truly honest, at least 3 of these 5. lyon, spurs, chelsea final, the one we won, that madrid nightmare. Not that that one night wasnt amazing...

Yeah that Madrid one was a real fuck up. We should have won it that year.

Istanbul was amazing and we didn’t even play that well that night. We were a bit fortunate to win.

That spurs team - fuck me that was the best City team i've ever seen. Aguero missing the penalty first leg, jesus, we should have battered them.

Still not over the other night Not felt as deflated since they beat us on Pens. It was so avoidable Pep has a had a real shocker and it was so frustrating . Just hope we can pick ourselves up quick because that result could have taken our confidence a huge battering

Bodo gave us a hammering, and a deserved hammering. Spurs results, united results....we scraped past Salford City.

We might still turn it on against Madrid though - but the problem is consistency - which shouldn't be confused with predictability. We're incredible predictable - boring to watch and have been for 2 years.

But we have these spells where the players get it and we're fun and brilliant but it's for 20 minutes a game. It used to be for 80 mins. Now we slog teams to death with possession. And good well coached teams soak it up and counter at will - and we're hoping for great saves or bad misses.

Its happened against forest, newcastle away in the league, madrid, bodo, brighton etc...it happens with regularity. We might win a cup, because inconsistency is less important. It means we're less likely to win the UCL and the league.

We're the worst top team you'll ever see. You literally don't know what you're getting.

If this is the worse, and still where we are, then I’m celebrating the transition.

Understand your sentiment, mate, but this is just one point in time.

If you enjoy the football then fine. If you enjoy the results then fine. Everyone has what drives them to support the team, go to the games etc. I aint taking that away from you. But the money spent, the position we were in....we've let our standards slip and badly...like it makes a fucking difference, i'll be here regardless, as will you!

I wouldn’t play him in training, mate.
I think I have about 20k posts and 20k replies on here and yours is the most disrespectful I have come across in that time.
I know young lads of 21 who are struggling to get out of bed in the morning, dependent on drugs, taking part in crime but a 21 year old on the other side of the world from where he was borrn, employed by one of the biggest sports teams in the world shouldn't even be training is taking it a bit too far.

P.S.

All that matters now is next Tuesday :0)

3nil AET

City win on penalties :0)

Keep the faith, Blues :0)
I agree with that. It's all about the second leg. The Dippers have shown that it's doable. It's 100% down to the team the manager puts out.

Sadly it's not. Coz we're 3-0 down. Can we win, yes, but your message would have been valid on wednesday before 8pm - but now, we're 3-0 down - so we've more than likely fucked it. Hey, it's Europe - its almost a yearly tradition.

I genuinely believed we were out before a ball was kicked. Real have our number. However you have to live and hope

Really? I looked at their team and thought "no mbappe, no bellingham, no rodrygo"...we'll get out of here with a draw and no one beats us at home. Then he picked a team with Rodri alone on an island...and i still thought, even though we're playing with 10 (savinho) we'll get out of this alive.

We do have these shit the bed 20 minutes, and always have done (under pep...under other managers they lasted 90 minutes!), i just didn't see it happening on wednesday but you can never rule it out with us.

Transition is a word bandies about all over football.
United have been in transition for 14 years!

Its an excuse.
It buys time.

Its not transition, its a player recruitment fuck up.

Look, once they cross the white line its up to them ? Pep sets the team up and hopes the players take it in and play
City did have 2 or 3 early chances and was playing well, but once they scored we fell apart and got beaten well and truly and no completes really, The penalty save was something to cling to with overturning the tie.

Also, this weekend's game at West Ham will speak volumes on how the player feels and lets hope nobody as washed their hands with whats left of this season
We may have had chances and were playing well, but their keeper had bugger all to do. Our xG was 0.15 late in the first half which is pretty poor.

They were also in transition for the 20 years following winning the Prem for the first time in 1993, but the Pisscan knew he had to regularly bring in top players to keep them there season after season. There were a few fuck-ups of course, but he generally got the best and kept them winning stuff even when Roman Abramovic decided to buy a few trophies.
You don't change loads at once, you change two a season and build a squad to make those changes less obvious.
It helps if you play simple hoof it long down the channels, quick cross, big bugger in the middle and someone lurking to pick up the loose ball type of football rather than the complex 4-D chess Pep prefers, but getting the right players and integrating them quickly is the key.

Still can't fathom how bad that was, really disappointing after the Newc game. Thought we'd do the business but it was a total no show.
