Real Madrid (A) | CL | Post Match Thread

This was a game I thought we'd set up solid and look to stay in the tie. How wrong could I be?! Pep got this wrong tactically and the players looked lost and confused. There are many talented players in this squad but tonight showed how far off the top level they are!

1 CL from Pep in 13 years (City + Bayern) from Pep tells that his methods dont work in CL.
It's knockout football. Don't overanalyse it.

And he has 3 in 17 seasons. Don't cherrypick.

No manager's "method" works in knockout football perfectly. If it did, one manager would have won it more than 5 times. And Ancelottis are spread from 2003 to 2024.

Doku and Savinho get nowhere near any aspiring top team in the world. Both of them are Championship lever never mind Champions League level.

Spot on, pick a solid defence with fullbacks and pack the midfield with Haaland on his own, Stink the place out if you have to and park the bus, let's be 100% here, Real Madrid are not the team they were and they are struggling

Pep has earned the right to say whatever he likes about the starting lineup and the result, but fans are also right to point fingers and ask questions ? That was all down to his mistakes and 100% he fucked up and nothing can gloss over the fact.
Exactly. If its nil nil after an hour, they grow frustrated and we likely pick them off. To capitulate like that in the first half (and not change it), was borderline negligence.

Just stay in the tie, absolute suicide team selection and tactics

I know a certain team gets stick for being set piece merchants, but our set pieces are TRULY abysmal, do we actually spend any time on them at all in training? In game like tonight when we are shite, a few good set pieces can make all the difference

Savinho,Jury out on Semenyo offers nothing except goals.
Ah! I see. Fair enough. That said, i dont think his presence in the team was decisive one way or the other.

I think the absence of in form players like Marmoush and Nunes. And going from 3 midfielders to 2 in the middle was a greater issue.

Also playing Khusa at RB almost necessitated playing an actual winger coz width woild have been non-existent if he went Khusa and Cherki.

But overall, i agree Pep sometimes just creates more problems for himself and his team with the overthinking.

Aye. Anyone who didn't thoroughly enjoy that is a fucking weirdo.
I for one am not taking for granted that I actually have the privilege to even take two hours to drop real life to take it in. Win or lose it's a departure.

It's a game played by multi millionaires on a team funded by a multiple times billionaire. It's not really worth the negativity it creates.

The game thread is toxic... end of.

Some people get old and die alone for a reason- sad that football could be one of those reasons for some here.

What doesn’t bother me is the actual result, as I never for one minute thought we were good enough to win the Chumps this year, it was just everything about tonight and the manner of the defeat which were so disappointing.
You've hit the nail on the head.

I actually thought we'd get a result tonight with the form and injuries that Madrid are going through lately.

That tonight was absolutely awful, from the managers team selection to what the players delivered on the pitch. Absolutely nothing good came from tonight.

The players look bored shitless for two years now. That right there says it all.
