Real Madrid (A) | Post Match Thread

He didn't even give a foul, he only stoped game because was head injury. But he was giving foul for Camavinga when he was diving, also Rodri and Vinicius the cleanest shoulder to shoulder and he gave foul to Madrid. They were getting everything from ref, when ever we got some right decision all Madrid bench were going after the ref.
I got the opportunity after the match to re-watch the whole game, apart from the first 10 minutes, on Spanish TV, and to my surprise the programme replayed the Rudiger attack in close up and slow motion, twice. The replays demonstrated that the defender planted his right foot as leverage then launched his right shoulder into the side of Gundogan's face. Much more subtle than using an elbow and I strongly suspect that it's the same technique he used on KDB two years ago. Fortunately for us Ilkay's facial bone structure would seem to be made of sterner stuff than Kevin's.
However, my immediate impression at the game was that Rudiger's action was motivated by the same concern that I still think prompted his attack on KDB ie. a desire to take out City's most influential midfielder (at that stage on Tuesday I believe Gundogan was having the biggest impact in midfield). So what is to stop him assaulting a key player again on Wednesday, having got clean away with it in Madrid? And what if it's KDB, God help us, that's having the most impact? I wouldn't even put it past Rudiger to try to smash up Rodri and he'd certainly have no qualms about laying into John Stones; indeed, of all our team I agree with another poster that only Haaland seems to me safe from his thuggery. It's worrying.

I listened to the post match analysis and Ferdinand and Owen said they was watching Haaland and Rudiger when the ball was at the other end of the pitch. They both commented on how often Rudiger pulled his shirt and bumped into Haaland and said they did well not to react
Rudiger should be banned from football, permanently.

Add in Real Madrid Have never progressed when drawing their home leg first

And Pep Has never been eliminated after drawing the away leg
Not quite: Champions League 2000, semi-final first leg, Real Madrid 0-0 Manchester United. And the winners of the final that year were....Real Madrid.

Anyone else glad that Militao is back for the 2nd leg, because playing against him will suit Haaland more? Rudiger knows how to rile us up in big games, taking out Kev in the Final and yesterday leaving one on Gundo, which altered momentum of the game.

I thought Kyle did superbly well bar their goal, as Vini Jnr really is top class, and forced him to come inside and pose less of a threat.

Next Weds is huge, we need noise levels on par with Utd (LC 09’) & L’pool (PL 19’) … we can do this Blues!
I think it’s a bit naive to think that Rudiger will be benched. Even if Militao will play I reckon Alaba will be the one to give way.
