He played every game because of injuries and ran his ass off. So you can‘t expect the best of him but he always gave his best.
This is where we go wrong with Bernardo as he runs around a lot we think he been one of our better players ,removing the blue tint glasses he's created nothing ,hardly scored and slowed the play down by going round in circles to the point I think we play quicker and better without him now
Which is sad because he's been an incredible player for us ..

Need to be realistic about our prospects of progressing into the next round and they are slim, like i said we are lucky they only have a one goal lead.
I don't agree they are slim. It's 11 versus 11 players. We have the best manager on the planet. We are only 1 goal down with 90 minutes to play. We have just taken apart a top 4 contender in the world's hardest league. We have 2 of the top goalscorers in Europe this season. We have a wealth of champions league experience..winning the trophy less than 2 years ago and having qualified for the competition in each of the last 9 seasons. But most of all, City have the chance to go to Madrid and beat them having lost the first leg. When was the last time a team did that to Real Madrid? Mcfc, writing history....up the blues...keep the faith.

I might be a clutching at straws but I reckon with the pressure being completely off and most people assuming the tie is done. This could really help us, just go out there with no fear and give it a good go . Strange what different mindsets can do. Say we was leading 1-0 we might just go in too cautious and that could be the downfall but surely Pep has to go for broke . We may have to ride our luck but we are capable of getting 2 or 3 goals , we just need to somehow snuff them out
This would be my team if Dias and Ake are fit.
Ederson
Stones , Dias, Ake, Gvardiol
Nico G Bernardo
Savio Phil Marmoush
Haaland

De Bruyne and Doku on for the last half hour

This is my thinking. Most neutrals will be expecting an easy Madrid win but they’ve got something to lose. I don’t even feel nervous going into this game, I bet I would if we were a goal up.

Bizarrely I am not nervous too. Don’t know whether that’s because I have checked out on this comp and think we are out and if we win it’s happy days.

If Ake plays at CB, then Stones at RB?

I was wondering if Pep might go very cautious and play Stones alongside Nico with a back 4 of Gvardiol, Ake, Dias, Khusanov (think he gets the nod at RB after Saturday).

I'm probably miles off the mark.

I would like us to play Gvardiol, Dias, Stones, Khusanov and keep Ake up our sleeve if we need a sub or to rotate. It could be a long night and the bench will come into play.

If we go with Bernie and Nico and then De Bruyne, Foden, Savinho, Haaland we have a bit more control in theory and Marmoush and Doku as options to prosper from space later on.

Real aren't going to be allowed to sit off. Whilst I want to get at them, Pep will be happy to control the game and look to be patient. If we are desperate for a goal or need to protect a lead that gives us good options on the bench. We don't want to be in a position where old legs are expected to see our a game when Real are throwing everything at us. History will repeat itself.

Have to acknowledge that the bookies have Madrid @ 1-6 and City @ 4-1 to progress ... luv the optimism on here but my head ruling my heart on this one and just can't see us being defensively strong enough ... then again, nothing bout this team or Pep would surprise me ... here's hoping ...

Any other Blues have information on picking up tickets in Madrid? I have been travelling and not been able to pick up my ticket at the Etihad - the club said they would update us by 5pm today - but total silence. Have I missed the update? Thanks

I've actually voted for a win. I have a feeling although I'm probably way off the mark. And will be subject to change when Pep makes his team announcement and he's done his usual ditsy, bizarre CL team selection. Saturdays team was mint, just put SILVA in for Gundo and bring Kev on for second half .

Just my 2p-worth, but I am sure that we need to take this by the scruff of the neck, from the first whistle.

Any talk of consolidation, of containment, of watching and waiting, all smacks of going out with the lamest of whimpers. Worst possible feeling, that one...
