Real Madrid Boycott Ballon D'Or 2024 Because One of Their Players Didn't Win IT!

RM keeping it classy as ever...

Few clubs targeting individual refs now. Arsenal and Liverpool have both done it and it must make refs think twice before giving a decision against them.

Being reported they maybe crying off again this year.

If true that would be hilarious :)

They've dug their own grave really, it was so embarrassing that they kind of have to continue to boycott it now until they miss it when a player of theirs wins it and only then can they start attending again and claim they've made their point. Nobody on their side has any shot of winning this year so expect a continued boycott next year too.

Would be especially funny if there was a response from the organisers to exclude any real madrid player from future nominations, that would really rattle the self important wankers.

No love for them from me.

Paet of the cartel that tried to strangle Sheikh Mansour's project at birth.

And they're definitely entitled.

Fair enough. But you know, we have encountered hostility, either declared or covert, from virtually all of Europe's footballing establishment. As we have, and still do, from England's footballing establishment. What that tells us is less about Barcelona FC specifically, than about how the ruling class — however you choose to take that term — firmly intends to remain the ruling class, and intensely resents anyone breaking into that very closed circle. In football as in many (all?) other domains.
Beyond their specific relation to us, in the bigger picture, Catalonia, of which the city of Barcelona is the capital, represented serious resistance to the Falangists who ruled Spain with an iron fist for so many years. That is a mitigating circumstance for me.

And did Brokelona play any specific part in the resistance?

Or does it just happen to be a football club situated in the capital of Catalonia?
