Real Madrid Boycott Ballon D'Or 2024 Because One of Their Players Didn't Win IT!

I wonder if the organiser / UEFA has the balls to say that no Madrid players will be considered for three years for any short list across all categories. Staggeringly arrogant response as if to say we are bigger than football. Can you imagine a Spanish club saying aren't turning up to play Madrid because they won't win so there is no point travelling. The whole world should be calling them out on this.

I wouldn't mind but he's not even the best player at Madrid nevermind in the world

Isn't he still living in Kyle Walker's back pocket along with that knob Mbappe?

because I am a sucker for trying to understand certain seemingly rash actions, here are some viewpoints from popular Real Madrid social networks and boards;

First of all, Rodri does not deserve any hate, the man did nothing wrong. Now to the allegations:

1- Real Madrid, Vinicius and sponsors (Nike) were told weeks ago that Vini won, allegedly through France Football in an "unofficial" way.

Nike spent millions in marketing materials, designing his new shoes, and events throughout different stores. This is why Vini showed his Nike underwear vs Dortmund.

2- This was an open secret, like it always is, but then suddenly UEFA and FF decide that this year they won't "oficially" pre announce to the winner who he is. Strange move but ok.

3- Rodri was allegedly not traveling. UEFA had to communicate that he had won so he would show up. Man City, in an act of class, allegedly told RM that they were told Rodri won, and that whatever info we had of Vini winning was false.

When you combine 2 and 3, it does seem that there were intentions to embarrass Real Madrid on live camera. This is why there is and should be outrage.

Rodri was not City's or Spain's best player last season, yet he managed to get the Ballon D'Or

He didn’t even make the top seven players in the Premier League last season, yet he’s now a top contender on the global stage? It just feels like the award’s standards are becoming increasingly inconsistent.

The media confirmed it [Vini would win it], Vini said it himself. It seems like UEFA planned to humiliate Vini and Real Madrid by having him be there and Rodri winning it.

It’s no secret that UEFA hates Perez for his Super League attempt, and this is a way more personal attack than you are giving it credit for.

And i should balance the above by stating that plenty of Madrid fans seem a bit concerned at their clubs actions and the way football has become a huge excuse to get offended over dumb tiny stuff >90% of fans didnt give a toss about, even a few seasons ago.

Sorry, can't help myself. Shit house from RM.

Is this a UEFA organised event? I thought the Ballon D'Or was organised by a French magazine?

If City had boycotted the event, you can be sure a massive fine or ban would have been imposed.
Pretty sure it’s not mandatory to attend so they haven’t broken any rules.

They do lose 4 man cards though for being proper fannies.

Probably a lick of truth to this. Vinicius was 1/20 in places this week.

He's a prick stating he's not won it due to his stance on Racism, absolutely fuck all to do with that, he probably got votes on the back of it. The main place where he's suffered racism is Spain, what are the Spanish Authorities doing about it?

Btw, I doubt Rodri will think it's "a very silly and arbitrary award". He must be so proud to be crowned the best player in Europe for the past season, that's some achievement.

i'm not going to change my opinion that the Ballon D'Or is a bit of a daft folly just because one of our players has finally won it. I'm very happy for Rodri that he's getting the recognition he deserves but I don't know how anyone could argue that it's not arbitrary. Comparing different players in different positions playing for different teams in different systems is obviously completely subjective. My original point was I think it's strange that Madrid would take a stronger stance on a player missing out on an award than they ever have on the racism experienced by that same player. Of course individual awards seem a bit silly and insignificant compared to more serious matters at hand.

They tried to be all high and mighty (we're Real Madrid and nobody disrespects us) and just ended up looking like petulant children. Laughing my socks off at them.
Reminds me of the rags a few yrs back.
Taking their runners up medals off when they lost to Villereal in the Europa final.
We're too big to come 2nd.
Get fucked you entitled set of twats
