Real Madrid (H) | CL | Post Match Thread

Proud of the lads after that. Better team even one down, or was that two? Pep did the right thing by taking off Haaland and Rodri to rest ahead of Sunday. It was lost in Madrid unfortunately, if we'd played that starting eleven over there then who knows.

Understand the Bernardo red, kind of a natural instinct and if he'd only dipped his head or shoulder to the ball he may have gotten away with it. Looked off to me though, am sure if they use the next frame when the ball has definitely left his foot, then he's off. What I don't understand is why var was completely uninterested when Cherki was fouled in the box, seen the replay and seems a clear one to me. That could have been a game changer.

Maybe it was the atmosphere but Dick Turpin seemed happy to let Madrid waste time all game, and couldn't wait to book Pep for what seemed very little.

Vini Jr remains an odious, horrible sh1t. Could have scored when one on one with Donnarumma but instead tried to get him sent off by running deliberately into him, then laughed about it.

Gutted we’re out. Decent performance from their team. A lot more direct and created a lot of chances but ultimately our finishing was dreadful. I was impressed with how Real managed the game under pressure and I felt they could’ve gone up a gear if they really needed too. Wouldn’t be surprised if they go on and win it again although Bayern and Arsenal look worthy challengers too.

Sad my last champions league game ended in a defeat to them, not renewing this cup scheme next year, FA cup yes but cannot be arsed with this comp and the mid weeks anymore, also the prices are random as are the punters next to you.

...and any slight positives to offer for this match? Things aren't always either great or terrible - that's a rather sad way to judge things, both in life and in football. IMHO.
Certain individual performances were encouraging and collectively they tried manfully, but such observations are trite. I stand by the substance of the original comment, however, though thank you for your counsel.

Stop it they're shit.
No way they get past bayern or psg.

Bernardo ruined everything. I genuinely believe we had a comeback based on how the lads played. Unacceptable by the 'captain'.

Woke up with a sense of pride and a belief that we can build a team around serious talents in the team: Cherki, Khusanov, Ait-Nouri, Doku, Savinho, O'Reilly, Gonzalez, and others, and the emergence of Mfuni, Reis, Mukasa, McAidoo, Gorman, Headley, and Echeverri. I watched the highly technical unit that is Isiah Dada Mascoll look superb for the EDS after years of injury, and I am confident that we will rise.

I hate playing Madrid in the CL. It is always 12 against 11, and 12 against 10 was just too much. Onward.

Truth.

Without VAR I reckon we would have at least won the game and possibly the whole tie.
So we'd win due to incorrect decisions? Rags and dippers would love a return to compliant officials. - As would Real Madrid of course, but they didn't need help over the two legs.

First part is You cheering on united in other threads.. but backfiring as right up our arse…. Second is soo easy they beat us 5-1 without there best players and could/should’ve been 8-9 over both legs!
So you’re happy to convert their missed chances into what could have been and 8 or 9 drubbing but our missed chances are completely irrelevant?

Yep same for me and a few on the bus on the way in said the same on the way in, I’ve never liked the competition anyway it’s an overhyped Carabou cup, the officials are dire, the teams are diving, cheating fuckers, fucking tourists everywhere. The lads played well but it was lost in the first game. Let’s hope Vinnie prevents Arsenal winning it.

If he KO’s Madrid and then Arsenal, he should get a second statue
