Not surprised Nico G hasnt been picked, should have though. Haaland Cherki and Reinjders are gonna need to find some determination. Doku and Silva always put in the effort.

Bernardo has been one of our better players this season, in my eyes.

I'm not sure why you prefer Gonzalez to Bernardo when we're chasing a 3-goal deficit. Gonzalez provides even fewer goals/assists than Bernardo (yes, I know he plays deeper).

Bernardo also has an incredible track record in these big games.

Because Bernardo doesn't have Nico Gonzalez's defensive instincts, who wins aerial and ground duels; because several matches have shown us that the Rodri-Bernardo midfield combination doesn't work when possession is lost; because we need to block Real Madrid's quick transitions, and Rodri at 70% of his fitness isn't enough in this type of match.
And to attack well, we must first defend well.

These are some of the reasons why I wanted Nico Gonzalez alongside Rodri rather than Bernardo.

Can we stop pretending Bernado doesn't help Rodri in the Middle? He is no Nico G defensively, sure. But he sure does work his butt off in midfield on all ends of the field.

He works his arse off but he's asked to do more than he should - last week he was leading the press while in a 2 man midfield. Mad. Pep doesn't ask others to do that

Stones should have started for his passing ability. Bernardo must sit centrally - no drifting out to the right wing otherwise Rodri will be totally outnumbered in the middle. Poor Nico G - he just doesn't get a look in any more. Team looks unbalanced to me. A lot resting on Cherki and Doku, both of whom probably need career games tonight for us to go through. Reijnders - this is your chance to shine !
