My prediction is that when the teamsheet comes out we will be seriously pissed and perplexed at the starting 11 that Pep chooses. He will do the usual and go with his favourites and it will bite us on the arse in the first half. Whether he gets the changes right will determine how we fare in the second half and whether we manage to come out of it still in the tie.

For example, I just can’t see him not starting Bernie, Kev, Phil, Kova and if he starts them all Madrid will stroll through us.
Not forgetting Gundo next to Kov

Just saw an article on BBC sport of us v real and how its a rivalry. It sunk in, these are our rivals now. Not the potless Gunners not the once in a generation dippers or even the mid table rags (to be honest they'll always be rivals) but on a pure sporting level, Real Madrid are our rivals. Wow.
Unreal mate. I'm 39 now, growing up and supporting City in the mid 90s when we were proper shit, I used to pray for games like these against Real, Bayern, Juventus, Barcelona etc. And now they see us as Rivals. I'll never take these times for granted(how can you when you've seen Gerry Creaney play for your team), and I keep telling my 14 year old son to male the most of it, because it won't last forever.

All four of whom can draw upon good memories when they think of RM...

Gonna be a really fun game I think.

At one end, Vinicius, Rodrygo and Mbappe running at Kovacic, Stones and Dias, three men who appear to be sellotaped together, after Bellingham steamrolls the memory of Ilkay Gundogan into the ground and dances on his grave.

At the other end, City doing the same to basically their under 16s in defence and feasting on them. Nunes and Gvardiol inexplicably breaking the back line from full back, Marmoush zipping round like some sort of crystal meth fueled wasp, and God help them with Haaland.

Give over. Just what I’m expecting. I’ll be there at the ground and nothing would make me happier than a repeat of the infamous 4-0 match, just going with what we’ve seen happen most weeks this season, similar to exactly what Pep has been saying in his press conferences. He just usually reverts to type and picks his favourites. I’d feel much more confident if he goes for it and starts Nico with Kova and leaves Bernie on the bench. Then go with pace out wide and try to get in their faces. Can only hope.
Famous not infamous.

Might be an infamous result if you support Madrid, certainly wasn't infamous from a City pov.

Ederson

Khusanov
Stones
Dias
Gvardiol

Nico
Kovacic
KDB

Foden
Savio
Haaland

Marmoush off the bench to give them something else to worry about on 65 mins

What sort of lead do we think is defendable in the return leg? I think we'd need at least a three goal margin. Which will be a big ask.

Anyone who says 7-0 will either be banned or, alternatively, be forced to listen to S****s records for 24 hrs non stop.
@Mad Eyed Screamer will happily listen to shite s****s records for free though. I'd still ban the yanky bridge waffling **** though.

In possession I’d expect Gvardiol to play high and wide

Ederson

Stones Dias Ake

Kovacic Nico

Bernardo Foden KDB Gvardiol

Haaland

Can’t see Pep starting Doku/Savio/Marmoush here, he’ll want to prioritise ball retention surely?

Personally I’d love Doku in there

RB's out Cavajal ACL Vazquez withdrawn Valverde their best midfielder to cover for Vazquez at right-back.

CB'S out Militao ACL, Rudiger hamsting50-50 for 2nd leg, Alaba just returning ACL and injured previous game, Asencio and Tchouameni (1 booking from sus 2nd leg) will be trusted at centre back.

Jude Bellingham, Luka Modric, Aurelien Tchouameni, Eduardo Camavinga and Endrick, all of them picking up two yellow cards so far this season, 1 booking from suspension in the 2nd leg
