Real Madrid - Post Match Thread

This is how it feels to be CITEHHH!! Meanwhile Flose oversees yet another turgid performance. I think we know who's going to get value for money with their season tickets this season. CTIFD

Was a nice touch & also.his header earlier was a decent one. Not been great at attacking set pieces in the past, so hopefully this is part of an overall.improvement.

Recall him on a few occasions last season attacking set pieces very well but his finish letting him down.

i don't look that much into the result yes its a win and getting players to gel and fit and 100% ready for the start of the season but the starting 11 come brighton away will look nothing like what was on offer last night we have to get players into that squad and some players playing last night will leave

its going to be hard for pep to name 2 squads of 25 for premier league and champions league and the balance must be right for both and the key could be youth and we can add them to the 25 man squads at anytime so its very important to get as much game time in pre-season and in the 2 games we have seen some standing out and will push pep to add them to the first team squad this season even if its just being around the first team and training with them

Don't see this happening at all. He doesn't have the qualities to play wingback. Seems to be a semi-popular opinion based on little more than him being fast. Defensively he doesn't have what's required, he likes to take risks, commit defenders and go by them, he wouldn't be able to do that anywhere near as much with nobody behind him to cover and we'd be badly exposed on the counter attack there. Not sure his fitness levels are there either, his sprinting style is in bursts and he seems to take a few moments to recover once he's had a sprint, and throughout last season he tailed off towards the end of games fairly regularly, that wouldn't be allowed at wingback. Some of these issues could be worked on reasonably easily if Pep really see's that as an option but i'd be surprised if we saw it. I think it's limiting his talents in that position and in a 3-5-2 he's more likely to be seen upfront than at wingback.

Also, against teams where we are dominating i don't think we'll see 3-5-2. I suspect it will be used more in the opposite games where we're perhaps not as dominant like away to the big teams as it gives us a bit more defensive stability. At home to a team parking the bus we won't need 5 defenders, we'll have a back 4, an extra man upfront and still have the fullbacks bombing on.

We played 3241 in some games last season where Sané played where a wing back would, and he was absolutely fantastic, so, whether you agree or not (I don't really like it) it's not "opinion based on little more than him being fast."- it's based on previous, brilliant, perfromances. The Chelsea game was the quietest Moses had been all season, pinned back in his own half and completely neutralised by Sané - and that was in one of his first games for us, when he was still finding his feet. Then he came off and 2 goals came from that side as having a more defensive option isn't always the best way to defend.

I was thinking after just watching the highlights,at last we have a keeper who can save a few shots, then he had a Bravo moment and kicked it straight to a Madrid player....................fucking awful mistake, hope that is his last :)

Not to be a pain but Joe H passed the ball to Fernando with Ibra right behind him who scored from that two seasons ago in the Champions League against PSG. I know Bravo isn't really liked around these parts but I think every keeper has one of those in them. Not disagreeing with you, I think it's me that's tired of seeing Bravo linked to anything to do with a keeper error.

Sterling looked great playing as a free striker. Held up and brought his teammates in the way I wish Sergio could.
