Tottenham Hotspur face Real Madrid on Tuesday 5th April 2011 in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League Quarter Finals.

The second leg will be played at White Hart Lane on Wednesday 13th April 2011.

The winners of the tie will meet the winners of Barcelona v Shakhtar Donetsk in the Semi-Final.

In 1961, Bill Nicholson instigated Tottenham Hotspur's tradition of playing in an all-white kit for their European matches by telling his players "You look like Real Madrid - now go out there and play like them!"

Spurs and Real Madrid have already met once before in the fourth round (Quarter Finals) of the UEFA Cup in season 1984-85.

Tottenham lost 0-1 at home, which was their first defeat at the Lane in European football since 1961.

Well that would be our fault for not doing better than 4th to be honest, not the fault of anyone else.
Also, I don't for one minute think Spurs would beat Barcelona if they get past Madrid, however in doing so they will have more games to contend with, making our quest for top 4 more 'easy'. Like I say though, if it came down to Spurs winning the CL, us finishing 4th and losing a CL place, that would be no-ones fault but ours because the squad we have, as displayed yesterday, is capable of twatting teams, meaning it should be looking at 3rd at least.

I was teasing ya,and for the record,i totally agree with the above.People can claim the mitigation of injured/missing players but i lay the blame firmly with the management for that shortcoming. We should have pissed 4th.

Coffee hasn't kicked in yet, give me a chance! ;-)
I hope Mancini keeps the shackles off now, especially for our home games. Spurs, if they get past Madrid, should be absolutely fucked come May 10th and if that is the case I would like us to set up exactly how we did yesterday. I wonder if Kidd had an input into yesterdays team, because it was too un-Mancini if you know what I mean? Whoever it was who decided to take the shackles off, they should see what we can do based on yesterday and do it more often. A joy to watch and it was obvious we were going to twat them yesterday.

They won't finish 4th now. Hope they get an absolute tonking. 67-0 and van der vaart throws his dummy out.
