The theory is that Tevez dropping back allows the overtaking AM to get forward, one of the CMs to push up, and in particularly the wingers to cut inside, either to get behind the last man or to support the attacker. The full back are also supposed to pull up which then creates the width for the team.

In essence, he's doing nothing wrong and is doing the job that is asked of him. The false nine in this formation has to be able to receive the ball and hold it up, have the passing vision to find his running teammates and finally, be able to create space for himself and shoot. Tevez does all of this brilliantly and if he had another striker at the side of him, drawing out opposition defenders to create space would be a much harder job to achieve.

I think he's been average this season so far, and 1 point out of 6 v blackburn and sunderland shows our attack isn't working.

This is a bit bizarre, as you started off having a go at Tevez and I was defending him. Now you're telling me how good a job he's doing. I'm prepared to hold my hands up and say I don't like the system we're employing and that it doesn't bring the best out of Tevez imo. I prefer him in the hole behind a striker like Adebayor or Balotelli. We're just going to have to agree to disagree I think.

i'm sort of in agreement with you but I don't think Tevez is THAT good just had a very good season with a lot of goal poaching, tap ins and some penalties added to some real moments of quality, I don't think he'll ever be a lone striker and this 4-3-3 is bugging me.
I think the 4-3-3 is working well, and will only get better as the players develop more of an understanding. I think the goals will start to flow and 3 and 4 goals a game will become a regular occurrence. In essence we will be fucking fantastic.

Because my opinion of him is not that he's a crap player, but that his mental attitude isn't correct and playing a formation that we have built around him is a detriment to the team as a whole, thus I wouldn't shed too many tears of he left and we brought in a more complete player.

But yeah, we can agree to disagree on this one, that's the fun of forums :)

I'm not afraid of welshmen, that's just plain ridiculous!

Having an argument with a person of another country is neither xenophobic nor racist. Might be rag tho.
