Rebuild

When you look at the age of some of our key players you start to wonder if this team has anything left in the tank to repeat what it has before. The average age of our squad is 29.2!

Kompany - 30 this year
Yaya - 33 this year
Silva - Already turned 30
Kolarov - 31 this year
Clichy - 31 this year
Navas - 31 this year
Zabaleta - Already turned 31

Those are usually first on the team sheet, something tells me Pep is going to have a huge job on his hands over the coming years.

None of those players will be first teamers in 2 years. I imagine kompany, silva, zab and clichy will play a part next season but they will slowly be fazed out. It's time to leave sentiments aside and create a new spine that will bode well for the future.

Probably dreaming but this is how I'd like to see us start next season:

Hart
Denayer Laporte (£35m) Otamendi Sandro (£35m)
Pogba (£65m) Gundogan (£28m) Dinho
De Brunye Aguero Sterling

Rest of Squad: New GK (£10m) Kompany, Zab, Silva, Weigl (£25m) Nacho, Sane (£32m) Clichy, Garcia, Tosin, Roberts, Delph, Navas

Out: Yaya (£12m) Fernando (£8m) Sagna (free) Willy (£5m), Mangala (£22m) Nasri (£15m) Demi (free), Kolorov (£10m)

Total Spend: £230m - £72m = £158m

Yea I could live with his haha

Our most obvious and urgent needs imo, are:

1.) More legs at Fullback
Denayer can solve half of the issue (on top of replacing Demichelis)
We will need to sort out Left Back tho as Clichy isn't as quick as he used to be and I don't think Kolarov has a future here

2.) More control in Central Midfield
Non of Fernando, Delph or Dinho offer this and Yaya is on the wane and likely to leave.
Moving Silva into part of a 3 can help this problem
Gundogan looks likely and will help a great deal
We will need at least one more

3.) More goals/assists in FW (right) position
With more control in midfield the forward 3 need to have consistent end product. De Bruyne and Aguero have that. IMO we need someone left footed on the right in the Robben/Bale mould. Niether of those are likely, but James Rodriguez could well be on the move. He avgs 1 goal or assist per 90.
Sterling is a WIP for Pep, in my view. We probably won't see constant end product from him for at least 12-18 months
Navas is a decent player in possession but offers little end product.

There's a lot of attention on our CB area, and with Kompany's injuries esp, there's obvious validity there but in my view there are more pressing concerns. The best teams in the world don't necessarily need the best CBs in the world. They dominate games and have enough firepower to frighten the opposition into leaving very little in forward areas.

Half of those are squad players.

Ribery, Robben, Alonso, Lahm, just off the top of my head.

I think Pep has a job on in his first season be ause he has so many changes to make in style as well as making signings, but replenishing our squad over a couple of seasons should be easy.

unbalance team, lack homegrown player, too many old players, limited option upfront and out wide..
this is how i feel when manage City in FM..
Pep have a lot of work to do and got limited preparation time due to extended leave..
half of City squad will be off for Euro and Copa America..

8 new players needed. Not easy with Copa and Euros. Hopefully Pep is calling the shots on what players he wants because Txiki makes me yearn for Marwood.
