Has anyone read Zeitoun by dave Eggars ?

Incredible story - if it was fiction people would say that it is too far fetched. That fact that it all happened makes it truly remarkable.

If you like only non fiction and have an interest in music you could try 'There is a light that never goes out - The enduring saga of The Smiths' by Tony Fletcher.

The book came out on 6 Sept. Tony has tried to put the characters in context, in terms of family characters, environment, economy and other influencing factors. There has been some real research done in preparation for this book and Andy Rourke and Johnny Marr agreed to be interviewed for it.

Tony has previously written books about The Bunnymen, REM and Keith Moon (Dear Boy) as well as All Hopped Up (a history of 50 years of music in New York). Its worth checking out his website iJamming as there is loads more on there - his past is pretty incredible but too long winded to go into here.

Hope this is of some help

EVERY single review I've read gives it top marks. You won't believe the things the POWs went through until you read this book. I read it in 2 days. AWESOME!

'Guns Germs and Steel' by Jared Diamond, about human development over the last 10,000 years.

Ranulph Fiennes wrote a great book about his heroes, some great stories in that about everything from the Rwanda genocide and police stories. Adam Gilchrist true colours for cricket fans, Kieth Allen's biogrophy is also funny. Dont know if its been mentioned but a lot of hard yakka by Simon Hughes is very funny

He also wrote a book entitled "The Featherman" which was an excellent read, and was supposed to be a true story about the murder of serving and retired SAS soldiers who fought at the battle of Mirbat in the 70's, and an organisation called the "Feathermen" who tried to protect them. Most likely a fictional tale but a good read thats for sure.
