Record store day.

I got some great stuff. Sick of some of the stuff I wanted being sold on eBay at about 8 times the price.

Went into town this morning, saw the queue at Piccadilly Records and didn't even bother. This might be a great event for this shop but I wonder how it encourages people to get into vinyl? I'd say that half of that queue were already serious vinyl junkies (they'd have to be) and the other half wanted to add to the mountain of RSD offerings that had already mysteriously appeared on eBay before today.

Better still, That's Entertainment on Market Street had sold virtually all of their admittedly meagre offerings shortly after opening. I say better still because this shop doesn't normally sell vinyl at all.

As a promotion it's been great, but many of the shops who might really need the shot in the arm that RSD brings would not be able to "afford" to participate as they would have to have accounts with the majors and few of them do.

Ah well, back to the second hand shops then. Oh, and eBay...
