Red Scouse - The fall of an empire......

Babel was fllying to spuds only to be told he's going to the spammers.

'Arry will be apoplectic on losing out on a bung.

Yeah breaking new on SSN is Arry going mental after finding out the house he was buying in the back of Babel deal has fallen through

Hodgson turned Zamora into a bloody good player, so no doubt he sees better potential in the more talented Carlton Cole. That would be a great signing for the dippers, in fact I'd rather see Cole at ours rather than Ade

Very capable player,a handful for defenders.

Let's not get above ourselves, could certainly do a job for us.

Carlton Cole is nowhere near as good as Adebayor. He's an average striker with an extremely average goal return during his time in the premiership and it's not like he's excellent on the ball to make up for it

On the basis of natural talent/skill i'd probably agree, however, within the workings of a team i believe his attitude and attributes would be more suited to a partnership with Tevez.Hopefully Mario will bring similar.

I agree with Fixer - not a bad signing at all...

Would be interesting to know how they're funding this deal...

Still got money to spend (or give back to the bank) from Mascherano/Rieira etc.

Not sure what they'd pay on top of Babel for Cole though.

And they've signed Koncheski today. I'm not saying Koncheski's any good, just that they've found the dosh to sign him

It's been heading downhill ever since they won the Champions League.

They've been heading downhill since Dalgleish resigned in the 1990-91 season. From there their dominance of English football collapsed. They didn't turn shit, they were just a fringe team. Good enough to beat anyone on their day and to win a few cup comps, but no real threat to United during the 90's.

I think over the years they've gradually got worse and worse. They completely overachieved when they won the Champions Lg in 2005, and finished 2nd in 2008-09. Last season was about bang on for what sort if club they've been since 1991!

They are in a precarious position right now as the rise of City and Spurs to join United Chelsea and Arsenal is there to be seen. But if Villa land the right manager (Rijkaard or someone alike) they will also be too good for Liverpool to overtake.

Liverpool will be a 6th/7th battling team with Everton every season if that's the case. 'History' speaks for nothing when you've got no future, ask Preston North End!

Every dog has it's day, I hope the Liverpool fans enjoyed it while it lasted. But nothing lasts forever!
