I like to open a bottle of red wine now and then especially when we’re on TV but after reading an article today I’m torn , I have high blood pressure and thought that a glass or two of red helps the heart ,but this now seems false . Can anybody throw any light on this subject , does anyone think red wine can be good for you or is this just wishful thinking?? Would be grateful for some informed advice .

This is one of those things that varies over a couple of year periods. Once it's good, then it's not so good, and then it's back to being good. Same thing happens with butter - good, not good, good again! I think there will never be a definitive statement one way or the other.

If look you at the 'French paradox' for instance especially around South West France where they have a high fat diet followed with local red wine during meal times. Average age of living in the 80s I think.

If you have problems with blood pressure then habitual alcohol intakes are never going to be good for you.

I'm allergic to sulphite so no it's not good for me. You feel free to drink it though.

Cheers for the advice I think I’ll cut down to one glass per game
