Ref for Saturday- West Ham (H)

I'm one of those anal old buggers that keep an eye on the time it takes for the ball to come back into play after it has gone dead. Yesterday was probably the worst for time wasting since David Moyes, together with Peter Walton, rolled up with the Everton team.
Goal kicks: average of 25 seconds, from the time when the goalkeeper first touches the ball to actually kicking it. The shortest yesterday was 18 seconds, the longest 47.
Throw ins: average 20 seconds from when the (first) player picks up the ball.
Corners: see goal kicks.
When the team is losing, however, it is asap.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. When the ball goes dead, the clock should stop, as in other sports. When play resumes, the clock starts again.
The argument against that is that it would take forever for a match to finish. I disagree. Even the most simple footballer and manager would soon realise that each half will have 45 minutes actual playing time, and time wasting will have no effect on the time played.

However, the spineless bastards who manage the game will never consider this, as there would be no Fergie Time for the favoured clubs. (I have not forgotten 93:20 by the way!)
It works in other sports, so why not football?

the ref and linesman were obviuosly rooting for the underdog , several poor decisions , lack of bookings for timewasting etc ., but should we be depending on ref decisons to win games like today ? Our players made far more mistakes than the officials , the final pass and missing opportunities to score were the reason for the defeat.

Totally agree, the ref didn't prevent Navas from completing only 2 from 18 crosses, or the worst performance I've seen from Kun in a City shirt.

Four minutes of added time. Fucking hell. Even a day later this just utterly astounds me. I figured that in a just world there would have been six. That because this crew was clearly inept we'd get five (but maybe with a whistle at 5 and a half +)

But four? And the whistle at 4 plus ten seconds or whatever?

Looked like we were a spent force by added time, so it probably wouldn't have mattered one way or another. More the principle of the thing than anything else that is so annoying. If you want to get time-wasting out of the game you could at least start by making it, oh, SLIGHTLY difficult to get away with doing so. I don't think Adrian was even warned about this, and he was at it almost immediately after their first goal.

No, he'll be rewarded by being given the Trafford United match so that they get all the good decisions and probably a couple of penalties and the opposition have two players sent off!!

Well u were right mate, albeit not at the swamp, but he has got a Prem game this weekend,West Brom v Everton a week tonight, joke
