Ref Watch

Re the sending off. That incident showed Atwell has little or no idea what is going on in a game. The poor bloke deliberately stayed out of the melee.

I think there's a guideline that if it's not clear who is responsible for a touchline set-to then it escalates to the manager.

There‘s nothing wrong with var, just the clowns that use it
VAR is a human that uses video to analysis incidents
There is so much wrong with using video to decide some decisions but not all
It has totally messed up the game
Last week a opposition player was offside the lino didnt flag and nothing became of that phase of play however the offending team kept the ball and almost scored in subsequent phases of play. Before VAR the lino would have flagged for offside. We now have total disparity as to when a lino will flag supposedly they leave it when it is close but this isn't the case Rashford clearly was offside in the derby Cann the lino didn't flag until the goal was scored, yet same lino in first half raised his flag twice for Foden, being what might have been onside under video examination. We saw the same in the liverpool game at the Etihad one was flagging straight away the other wasn't until the second half when Mr Keen suddenly changed when he was in the City defensive half all the crowd were berating him for it.
The officials were better without VAR so get rid and we can all start to enjoy the game better

Each manager needs to have the ability to send the ref to the monitor after the VAR ref has cleared a potential foul/infringement. Make it one challenge per game. I also want to see the Fifa automated offside system implemented.

The fact that Webb pops up now and again to apologise without suggesting any future solutions being considered or adopted for next season is rather telling.

Please no this would become another time wasting momentum destroying tactic Lets get rid of VAR

The problem is they are trying to manufacture the desired result and have been using this method for three years. City have NEVER had a VAR decision go their way at home or away v rags and the dippers. Corrupt as fuck.

There was the Mahrez goal against them lot last season, given offside but over-ruled by VAR. But that made it 4-1 instead of 3-1, so hardly game-changing

The problem I have is that the liner has to be 100% sure the Mitomo goal was handball and I am not sure how he can from 35 yards away. Even looking in slow motion I am not sure either way. I suspect in real time liner thought it was handball and if he was wrong VAR would bail him out. Question to be asked though is if the goal had been awarded would VAR have overturned it. The other disallowed goal I am struggling to see where it hit his arm as in my mind it has hit his hip. As for the two penalties not being awarded that was a joke. Would like to hear the conversations that took place between VAR and ref. The system if used correctly is an addition to the game but the people responsible plus how it is used is all wrong.

OK can we all go home now please. Webb has apologised, nothing to see here, move along now, there's good lads.
So that's it. An apology re one foul and we are all meant to forget it. Where's the apology for the shirt pulling non penalty ? The 2 disallowed goals that may or may not have been handball, the manager sent off for standing still minding his own business?

Anyhow, totally fine for others to have the opposite opinion and I agree in some respects with the reasoning to scrap it completely, especially when you see those decisions go against Brighton, particularly also as many point out when a goal is scored you have that underlying gut feeling it’s going to be ruled out.
Nothing wrong with VAR. Just the cretins that operate it. It’s an interesting debate around corruption vs incompetence. I do tend towards it’s both as POGMOL seem resistant to implement improvements like miking up the refs and being transparent about the dialogue with the VAR official. There is no way it will be withdrawn, we can only hope that someone sees the light and demands the changes that will drive improvements.
