I think Taylor is a good referee generally. But I do think he has a bias against us.
A 50:50 challenge never goes our way. It has to be very obviously balanced in our favour for us to get a close call.
Penalties for us are very rare. Penalties against us can be given for pretty innocuous challenges. We need to be careful in this area.
He rarely misses an opportunity to issue a caution against one of ours, even for minor infringements. Nobody can argue that Grealish was unfairly cautioned yesterday, but he just wouldn't operate to that same strict standard if Fernandez or Maguire or Pogba gave the same reaction. Accumulated cautions result in a suspension, and Taylor is well aware that he is contributing to the long term effect. Witness their player getting a final warning after umpteen fouls yesterday. That just wouldn't happen with one of ours.
I think he is more even handed when dealing with non-Manchester teams, but there is always that suspicion that he will do whatever he can in order to bring (directly or indirectly) a benefit to United. And he is clever enough, or good enough for it to be indecipherable to the casual observer.
