What is going on with Grealish in the Champions League, Teams are looking to kick the shit out of him
last season and this season, Jack is getting smashed and the officials doing nothing,

for me, It's for the reaction in hoping he kicks out and gets sent off, the officials offer no protection and even dare i say want him to smash somebody and an easy sending off. Much like the Beckham in the world cup fouled and kicked but kicks out and sent off,

Grealish seems a poor bet for lashing out in anger, he runs his mouth off on the pitch a lot but generally keeps his discipline well, he's not a hot-head. Not saying I guarantee he'll never lash out if it keeps happening, but it's not like he has a history or reputation of losing control. More likely to get injured from the repeated fouls than lose his head and get sent off.

To be clear, the referee deemed Mahrez’s handball “intentional” to disallow Rodri’s goal, as unintentional handballs in the build up of a goal are no longer considered an offence. This was confirmed by the Paramount+ IFAB certified official they use as a rules expert during the halftime analysis show.

These are the current rules being used in the CL.

I've got absolutely no idea how that handball could be considered intentional.

I heard the answer to all the shit refs in the Premier League was to fuck them all off and bring in a load of super Euro refs?

Dogshit! It took so long to decide if it was a handball, I reckon the match commander had to step in and just say ‘Fucking disallow it!’.

They got it with Walker last season.

It seems Jack has learned from that as he seems to be doing alright so far. Good lad is young Jack.

Nobody in the game understands the handball law these days so this is why it is important that governing bodies and refs make statements after the game. Why did VAR think it send the ref to the monitor, what were the conversations between the ref and VAR and why did the ref reach his conclusion. In my mind, to disallow the goal and award the penalty were incorrect decisions. As for the red, Sergio gave the ref the opportunity to make a decision but having waved play on was there a clear and obvious error made to overturn the original decision. All told the ref was clueless and we should demand an explanation for all three decisions so we can learn from them for future games.

Wouldn’t be surprised to see a similar incident in tonight’s or the next round of games and lo and behold the goal stands ( which it should have anyhow) or a handball in box and no pen awarded like last night which shouldn’t have been given .

I think it is farcical that it was ruled intentional (I also think the decision to award us the penalty was ridiculous).

I was just trying to correct some misunderstandings of the current rules that were circulating in the match thread. Some were saying unintentional handballs in the build up could lead to goals being disallowed, which is incorrect.

I think it may be to do with the player's "silhouette". Remember the United game in the EL where Martinez (was it?) blocked a shot while sliding and it bounced off his leg on to his arm. His arm wasn't in a particularly unnatural position but it made his "silhouette" bigger, so it was a penalty.

Mahrez's arm wasn't in an unnatural position either, but it was slightly away from his body (whenever isn't it?), so just maybe that was the reason. We discussed at the time that the UEFA's interpretations for handball are different, and we got screwed this time.

Only suggesting this because refs normally have reasons for their decisions that we don't understand. We are so badly informed by commentators, press and pundits that we have no idea. Until refs tell us why they make their decisions, it will be a mystery. It's ridiculous really.

He should never be allowed to ref that fixture again. Crumbles under the stick he got from the murderers as being pro City when he isn't at all.

Thought VAR wasn’t there to re-referee the game, Taylor was close to the challenge looking right at it and played on like he did all day
Yeah, there was another moment where a foul wasn't given against Liverpool, we started running forward with the ball, and I thought "well, you might as well kick the ball out now, because if we score, they'll just go back to that one and disallow it."

I also get irritated by the theatre of the ref going over to the monitor. All of this bullshit smoke and mirrors to pretend that the referee isn't basically being told what decision to make.

Thought he would have let the goal stand, as he had let the game flow, but the var team had other ideas. No point letting fouls go until we score, and then the var intervene. Not on the ref that.
