Nope, the moral of the story isn't to cheat just like the rest of them, the moral of the story is that the refs need to sort their shit out because they're the ones with the problem, NOT Phil.

They need to start applying the rules and start booking players for simulation.

I'd start with the question "Did the player scream in order to get the ref's attention?", if the answer is "YES" then off to the monitor's we go to decide if the contact warranted a scream, and whether the contact was enough to cause the player to loose his footing.

There is no doubt that the high volume scream is influencing referees even more with no crowds present. And it seems to be encouraged by certain clubs/coaches.
Just look at/listen to Fernandes. And lower down, that big haired fanny who played for them in the recent EDS derby and spent the whole game shrieking like a teenage girl in a low budget horror movie

Absolutely right. TC got booked for the first one when Rush got up laughing but no yellow card for the second.

It was the first time I ever saw decisions with my own eyes and thought something was amiss without being told by my Dad that the ref was a cheat.

Yes he did. The Kippax was going mental. Jan Molby took both penalties and looked almost embarrassed by it.

Someone at the FA really needs to be asking Martin Atkinson to explain himself. Ref's can be excused on-field decisions made in a split second but being asked to review this from 3 camera angles in your own time and concluding the keeper touched the ball suggests either a) complete incompetence or b) some form of bias. Should Martin Atkinson be refereeing a game at the weekend IF he cant even get a decision like this correct when he has technology to help him?

I still stand by what I said about the keeper getting a touch. Watch the ball and the spin on it. Both players connect almost at the same time (at real speed) like a double tap or a double click like when you opened this thread. As someone else said though, the defender can get a touch and it still be a penalty. No doubt it WAS a stonewall penalty.

Phil needs to wise up in this situation though. It's one thing to try and stay on your feet or scramble back to them when outside of the box when we are counter attacking or getting at their last line of defence. Inside the box is different though and attention needs to be put back on the ref after such challenges.

They need to implement a challenge system although they would make us use ours in the first 60 mins of most games.

We're not going to agree mate but one thing I will say is that it is a shame players have to go down to get a penalty. State of the game!

I think we're being unfair to Moss. what he said to Var was "I think a little fairy came down and got a touch on the ball but they say Fairies are invisible on film. Can you check if they are invisible?" VAR checked and said, we can't see a fairy so they must be invisible on film. You say you saw the fairy so there's nothing to disprove that. Stick with the onfield decision. Penalty." Salah is routinely lasood by the invisible man.
