Refereeing decisions (updated)

I don't think we have a leg to stand on with critisicing the ref from Saturday, he gave us everything

I thought he was pretty balanced.

Three decisions were a bit questionable. The first pen (shit decision), second pen (good decision) and when Barry got elbowed at the end (haven't seen a replay but it looked deliberate to me, they got the free).

One or two 50/50 throw in went our way but other than that I thought he was good.

Madness, he missed a corner after Sinclair's shot was saved and gave a goal kick.

What about the elbow on Barry by Bentenke

Just about to watch the extended highlights to see if it's on there. It wasn't on MOTD.

Edit: Not on the extended highlights either.

The 1st wasn't a pen, but the defender does go up with his arm in the air, and it seems to catch him.

You stick / flay your arm up like that you could be asking for trouble even if the ball doesn't touch your arm.

The linesmen should have seen it didn't hit his arm but if it did I would have given it a penalty and that's how the linesmen viewed it.

Some you get some you don't its a split second decision again using vr would have assisted and would have deemed it not a penalty.

-- Mon Nov 19, 2012 9:54 pm --

Having seen it a few times I don't think it was intentional , it was clumsy and reckless and he should have got a yellow for it.

Do you know what, things are bad when we're checking out who the ref is days before the game.

I'm pretty sure I'm not paranoid (but I wish you'd stop talking about me behind my back), but I reckon dogshit reffing cost us minimum 9 points last season. We'd have walked it if bad reffing against us, combined with freebies given to the rags hadn't influenced the season.

And on that bombshell, I'm keeping a note of all 'game changing' decisions that go for & against us this season. Sad I know. But here goes so far:

Against
Crouch handball goal v Stoke (away)
Foul on Aguero in box v Arsenal (home)
Fulham dodgy pen (away)
Gallas handball, no pen v Spuds (home)
Huddlestone taking Zab out, blatant pen not given v Spuds (home)

For
Erm, none
Nolan marginal offside disallowed goal v WHU (away)

Update to the dodgy ref decisions ^^

None of the updates were 'game changing' decisions apart from the Nolan offside though. The OP is about 'game changing' decisions.

How can they not be 'game changing'?

They are all decisions that have influenced goal scoring in a game. Just because in some instances they haven't affected the result is despite the shitness of the reffing, and just lets them off the hook.

Also, take the Crouch goal - we drew that game. If the ref hadn't given Stoke a peg-up, we may very well have gone on to win that game. Similarly the foul on Aguero vs Arsenal - score that and we may easily have gone on to win the game.

Edit - shit decisions has been updated following the Sunderland game

For no penalty against Nasti for handball v Reading and no foul against Barry when he "fouled" Shorey in the same game.
Pen given to us in Villa home game when it clearly wasn't

List already updated for the Villa (home) pen - see above.

Barry didn't foul Shorey, the fullback just didn't challenge for the ball. For me, not even a tricky decision.

Nasti handball could go on the list. At the time, wasn't an obviously bad decision, only became apparent on replays after the game. But certainly one that went in our favour.
