Yes there was a covering defender but if Haaland goes around him it’s surely would have been classed as a clear goal scoring opportunity. I think the ref gets a pass on the handball - I don't think he could possibly be certain whether it was inside or outside the area from the angle he had.

The linesman has no excuse - he's not that far from being in line.

I don't see any way that VAR should not have gone "clear and obvious error, potential red card, OFR".

It's only a red card if it's DOGSO. It's not an automatic red card for handling outside the area.

If Henderson doesn't bat the ball, Haaland's just got to get it on target hard enough to beat the covering defenders. I thought it was a clear DOGSO.

The linesman on that side missed that it wasn't in the area, which isn't good enough.

He didn't miss it. They just leave the difficult stuff to var these days.

I struggled to carry on taking the game seriously after that.

Jared Gillett bottled it because he didn't want to ruin the game, which isn't the responsibility of the official.

Its basically another form of match fixing.

We were poor in front of goal but ultimately that decision cost us today.

If we were 1-0 up and Ortega did that, as the out and out favourites the officials wouldn't have thought twice about the red.

What I don't get there is even if Haaland was going away from goal a bit it doesn't mean he still wouldn't have been able to score so a goal scoring opportunity was denied

I think Jared Gillett cheated. He didn't apply the rules correctly for the sake of trying to keep it 11 v 11.

Every official in that VAR room should be handed a P45 this evening. Howard Webb should be apologising to the club
