Referees’ Performances | 2024/2025

That’s not true. Teams often play in the same coloured shorts . City and United for example both regularly wear white against each other.
Ok, as you are being Mr Correct. Do you think the referee should gave allowed their keeper to wear that shirt?

PL rules state that both teams can wear the same colour shorts as long as there is "significant contrast ". Make of that what you will??? Clear as mud
An excuse to flog away kits.

It's ridiculous they've said Arsenal have too much white in their kit and have to wear their away kit against against Spurs and vice versa.

Gillets an Aussie.
He is.

He's also alleged to be a Liverpool fan.

To be fair he's been ok when he's reffed us in the past.

Banks,Jones have been liabilities and we saw Bond yesterday who will no doubt be promoted to the elite list after his showing against Orient.

Randomly getting myself wound up with refs recently, it clicked with me about the lack of background checking when they state the teams they support. Now, they all will follow a team, the fact you get into refereeing will be from a love and joy of football. Any ref declaring they don't have a team needs immediately investigating.

Then you get the likes of Alty, a lad from Wythenshawe, a place I have grown up myself where you are either a red or blue. At what point do you choose non leage Alty when your family support United. You just don't do you. I have also lived in Altrincham and attended games there and whilst there will be a few hardcore, the rest are City and United fans taking in a game of footy.

If you want to be a ref at the top of football, you simply cannot declare you support a top side, otherwise your progress will be limited. Taking into account United and Liverpool especially have gazillion fans worldwide, how is it you don't hear of any refs in the lower leagues supporting them? You also don't hear of a fantastic referee in the lower leagues, who unfortunately cannot ref at a higher level due to the team they support. It is surely impossible that the so called best referees in England, all support lower league sides. It never will but it needs looking into. I don't get why we don't recruit oversees referees, they are a better standard and cuts out any accusations of favouring teams they support.

Bond is already a Select Group 1 ie top group shows how low the standard is

Taylor isn’t from Wythenshawe, despite what Wikipedia might claim. He’s from Altrincham.

Also, he doesn’t come from a family of United fans. His father is from the North East originally and while not a big football fan, favours Sunderland.

No. I’ve already commented on it. It’s something that is just routinely ignored these days for some reason.

Debatable, the info online says otherwise as well as close friends who went to school with his family.

Regardless of the ins and outs, my comments weren't a United thing. It was a referee lying thing. We all know if he has a team it isn't Altrincham. It goes back to the original point that the powers that be just believe anything they are told when these refs are signing up.

I’m from Altrincham & my grandad took me to my first game in the 70s, he went nearly every game over 60 years. He also took me to my first City game.

For all the people watching Alty you know it’s your non league club but you support City or Utd. Not a fucking chance does he support Alty.

I told the FA I was a City season ticket holder. Didn't stop them appointing me to ref City ladies in the FA cup. Even after I pointed it out to them. Apparently the mens and women's teams are 2 altogether separate entities
