Referees’ Performances | 2024/2025

That in itself wouldn’t be so bad if every player who gobbed off at the ref got booked. In fact if the rule was consistently applied there would probably be less of it.

As far as I remember of the incident Lewis was gobbing off because yet another foul on one of our players wasn’t called while we got penalised much more
I'm not going to disagree, but it doesn't exonerate him for it. Like all players he knws better not to do it, and the possible (likely) consequences (especially playing for City), no matter how frustrated he is.

Really, the refs should be able to see the faking
It’s a difficult one for the refs as they wouldn’t want to mess it up and leave a player on who needed help. As said later in this thread a 10 minute spell undergoing a compulsory concussion assessment would probably dissuade the play actors

Under what rule ? VAR is there for red cards, the only possible reason they might have looked at it was for a potential penalty, little surprise then that they didn't look at that.

This is an example of where the two-challenge rule would be more useful than the current over-complicated nonsense.

Fucking disgraceful smug prick blowing his whistle on 93:59

Whilst Jeremy is about to break one on one
This argument that an attack should be allowed to finish before the whistle is blown is rubbish, it should be blown when the time is up, unless there has been a reason to extend it. It wouldn't have mattered if we hadn't given away 2 stupid goals last night (not for the first time recently).

Rob Jones is a terrible referee, and yesterday I thought he was equally shit for both teams, but he wasn't responsible for City not winning, that was on our own side (again).

Can we appeal the 2nd yellow and red card ? It was not a foul by Lewis and could have been a pen for City in my book, the ball was there to win and Lewis was caught high on the foot

Poor refereeing, especially in the second half. It was hard to see the sending off live, but replays show that it was clearly wrong. Lewis made no contact and the defender actually stood on Rico. It was more, by far, a penalty to City than a foul by Rico and this from a referee in an ideal position to see! I might also add that VAR might not be able to intervene over a yellow card, but it could over a potential penalty. Hopefully the red will be overturned. But again we've seen a player sent off for dissent followed by a wrong decision while players are not sanctioned at all for violent "tackles".
