Personally I think there's a higher threshold required for giving City penalties, than that required to be given to the opposition?

I would not expect City to be given a penalty for that handball, but I would have been surprised if it had not been awarded to the opposition if it was our player being similarly hit.

It was never, ever even close to a penalty. You can slow footage down frame by frame and you could argue it from that but if you've ever played the game, that's never a penalty.

The worst thing about that decision yesterday was that you can clearly see the Forest player left his arm out behind his back.

I have no idea how both the referee and the guys in the VAR room can't see it. It was the most obvious and blatant penalty that was inexplicably missed. Pathetic.

Players put their hands behind their back when they're facing the ball.

He's side on, and obviously it's a quick movement, but the hand that touches the ball is a about a foot behind his back, making him a much bigger target. The final angle shown looks like he's moved it towards the ball, even if involuntarily (or maybe to try and get out of the way), but the result is that he's made himself much bigger, and it's had more of an impact than 99% of handballs usually do, as it's slowing a goal bound shot.

Thats pretty much how I saw it, I can understand Oliver not giving it, from his point of view and in real time it may well have looked like he was tucking his arms in, but VAR should have at least sent him to have a look.

Was at game, not seen replays yet but IFAB should revise the LOTG to penalise defenders
for Handball in penalty area regardless of hand position if it stops ball going into net directly
due to their handball, as may have been case here. It would balance out attackers being penalised for non intentional handball if they
score directly from their handball. It would stop
the incidents of defenders on goal line handling the ball and having a subjective review of normal or non normal positioning to determine whether
goal awarded or not. And yes O'Reilly booking was an absolute joke call from Oliver or an other in his ear.

The answer was before my eyes yesterday.

I watched the raggy game before ours, high foot by rag causing a lovely long stud mark on the Bournemouth forward....just a free kick apparently deemed trying to pull out.

Jack high foot and obviously couldn't see the Forest lad.... yellow card.

If VAR worked properly, asking the referee to have a look at the screen would make sense. Unfortunately it’s virtually unheard of for the referee to stick to his original decision so the process is just a farce.

Stop comparing to other incidents, focus on ours in isolation. There is zero consistency throughout refereeing in other City games or other teams games, the whataboutery is pointless because of that.

It was handball, the ball hitting an illegal part of his body stopped the ball going in/towards the net. It is very simple. I have always said where the ball is going should have an impact on the decision. If an attacker handled the ball in that manner and then twatted it in the net it would be disallowed, he'd have gained an advantage using a part of their body they cant use. why is it different in this case?

That's all very nice but his arm was behind him so wouldn't even be visible on that graphic. What the hell was he suppised to do? Have no arms? I've just watched it again and it looks less of a pen every time I watch it.
