Referees’ Performances | 2024/2025

The rules of football is that a goal keeper cannot handle the ball outside the 18 yard box, there’s no interpretation of it with if it’s a goal scoring chance. Is his hand in a position to avoid contact with the ball? No, he’s taking it away from Haaland’s outstretched foot intentionally.

In what world is that not deliberate hand ball and a red card? It’s manipulation of a game as Palace would have been playing for long periods with one player less. The club seems to be too nice with PGMOL when we end up on the wrong end of a horror show from the ref. The media lackies come out to bat for the dippers when it’s them but fuck all gets said when it’s us.

And we didn't even get a free-kick

During the semi final v forest when we didnt get that handball at 1-0 I turned to my lad and said that they dont want us winning the cup and it doesnt bode well for the final.

Hope to god they dont "interfere" with our last two games also, but they now have a good yardstick as to how shafting us in an obvious way is received by the media and fans countrywide. Lets face it, we will get no sympathy.

I beleive that if the 115 verdict had been announced already and City cleared, then saturdays shit wouldnt have happened.

Its because we are still guilty in most peoples eyes that no one cares what shit we have to take from var etc.

As far as I can tell, there are two things that will hinder our transfer targets this summer, 1.= no cl next season and
2.= being found guilty of 115.

Our rivals and enemies would love one of these to occur and I truly beleive we have beaten the 115 and they know it.

So that just leaves the no cl option by us failing in our last two games.....after saturday I wouldnt put it past em.

Apart from Martin Samuel. Class act that guy.

Bloody hell. I am not usually a conspiracy theorist. But that really does look bad. Atwell didn't look at the screen. If he had done in the first case he would have seen Rahford shielding the ball for about 15 yards and then putting off Ederson to help Fernandez score. If he watched the screen on Saturday it is obviously a red card. What the fuck is going on?
Corruption in plain sight. I've been saying it for years, became very apparent for me at that first Dippers CL game at Klanfield, then so many times after that in the PL.

As long as we don't shoot ourselves in the foot (which we are capable of this season), the officials performance in our last 2 games of the season is going to be scrutinised to the hilt.
You honestly believe that? We've been screwed over for years and I used to think that but no longer. There are no limits they will not stretch to to fuck us over.

Yes you have seen a downgrade
VAR looked because it was deemed to be a clear and obvious error by the ref in warding a red and they can look at an incident where a yellow has been given and advise the ref to look and he then awards a red

What they can't do is look at an incident and recommend a yellow if the ref didn't take any on-field action, the Henderson incident being an example of this What VAR got wrong is thinking the ball was going away from goal they didn't seem to understand it was Henderson who batted the ball away they got it wrong so, yes were were shafted
They can however have recommended that the referee goes and looks at it though. Despite what everyone thinks, I’m sure Atwell would have sent Henderson off but, even if he hadn’t, he could then have issued Henderson with a yellow, which, if nothing else, would have made him think twice about his time wasting.
The VAR’s abrogation of his responsibility should ensure he’s a long time out of the PGMOL circus

They’re right. The original decision from Shatwell was terrible, the VAR decision was terrible and the PIGMOL statement to justify it was utterly laughable. We should be making a noise about it because legitimate criticism is the only way this improves, and the ref’s body shouldn’t be allowed to get away with their own completely embarrassing justification.

Not just Attwell.
Cann was linesman at The Swamp that day and Assistant VAR on Saturday.
The fact he is an ex Palace player too is pure coincidence and obviously had no bearing on him failing to uphold the LOTG because the club he has an affiliation to benefitted.
He was the assistant at the swamp but he did put his flag up. Darren Cann, who never played for Palace, save for a couple of youth team games, really isn’t the problem here.

Was it actually shown on the screen at Wembley ? I wasn't there so don't know. I'd be astounded if it was shown on the Wembley screens.

I blame Attwell for thrle debacle at the swamp however Cann has ties to Palace and was part of the decision making process.
Personally I think Cann is a big part of the problem.

You can look at it two ways. One is it was a corrupt attempt to fuck us over and the other is they shat themselves at the thought of a goalkeeper being sent off early in an FA Cup final.

Without fanning the conspiracy theory flames here, Cann never ran the line in a Palace match until he announced his impending retirement and he was the linesman in the City Palace 5-2 match.

For him to be involved in the Cup final was a really poor decision from PGMOL because they have to appear purer than pure. Instead he was assistant VAR and VAR went on to make the biggest mistake since the Spurs Liverpool match last season. I have no doubt it was the usual PGMOL incompetence but the optics are very poor.
