Referees’ Performances | 2024/2025

Which of Webb's whistling wankers are ruining my evening tonight? The officials for tonight’s game are not yet on the Premier League website. Looking at who has already refereeed this weekend I think we could be saddled with alty fan Taylor
Apparently...
Manchester City FC (First Team) v AFC Bournemouth (First Team)
Premier League
Referee: Bramall, Thomas
Assistant Referee: Hopton, Nick
Assistant Referee: Howson, Akil. replaced by Eaton, Derek
Fourth Official: Jones, Robert
Video Assistant Referee: Tierney, Paul
Additional Video Assistant Referee: Taylor, Craig

I love this club to bits but next season I will be getting a season ticket at Oldham and letting a family member use my City one. This is purely because I despise VAR, it has completely ruined the Premier League. I'm sick to death off not being allowed to celebrate goals then having to wait 6 minutes to see if its going to be given. Add to that FFP and the new revenue spending rules which will have the smaller clubs struggle while the bigger teams thrive, I can't do it anymore, it's not a level playing field & it's a disgrace.

Why haven't the club come out with a statement about the god awful VAR decision at the weekend? The biggest game in English football and that's the standard of officiating we have to put up with? When the dippers had that decision go against them v Spurs two seasons ago they stopped just short of calling for a public enquiry.
I think from the club p.o.v. you will find it’s on a par with the Turkey shit show travel and UEFA treatment. In other words nothing to see here, move along.

Never heard of the referee. Not sure if that is good or bad. According to ChatGPT he was 4th official for city v wolves at the beginning of May and this is his first time refereeing us. Not keen on Tierney having the var gig but after Saturdays fiasco I’m not happy with VAR per se

Very good point. Somebody connected with the club should be saying something, Pep for example

Fair enough. I need to watch it back more closely. It was certainly hard to see from our end in the stadium. My point remains though about Atwell. Why didn't he check the monitor?
As Gvardiol launches it he is in the middle of Palace half - as the ball goes over Haaland he is into the centre circle - he is out of shot as the ball reaches Henderson, but the assumption is he is on half way and directly behind Haaland and various other players - if he gave any decision it would be a guess. It is the linesman who is up with play and has a clear unobstructed view.

As to the monitor - yes I think this was one for the on field referee to go and look and to take responsibility for whatever decision he wants to make.

I'm told that the referee can only go to the monitor if the VAR tells him/her that they should do so.

And they pretty much never go to the monitor free to make their own decisions, they always just go with the recommendation of the VAR (only once can i remember them not). Its a pantomime to make it look like they are reviewing it.

Everyone on social media banging on about Henderson''s not cheating and its not his fault the ref should have spotted it, should maybe remember back to 1986......so Maradona didn't cheat, the ref should have spotted it! Bollocks. Henderson knew what he was doing, cheating bastard.
If he thought he was inside his area, he would have caught the ball or dived on it.

At least the ref won’t have far to travel. Probably a County fan

I wonder which is the earliest minute acceptable that the referee can send a player off without ruining the spectacle of the game - is it in the LOTG I wonder?
Ask Vinny Kompany, Ederson or Fernandinho. They were all sent off early in games. I'm pretty sure there are one or two more also. Someone on here will remember them.
