Referees/Officials 2017/18 performances

Hope you have managed to get a bit of decent shut eye. Yes I do remember those type of stats being bandied about but never known how accurate they are. I did have a look at reds and yellows over the past few years and our stats were not really anything out of the ordinary. But again that is quite a simplistic view also.

Using your thoretical example I rarely defend referees performances and have already stated I think Dean was poor as was Madley the previous werk but I do think it is time they benefit from modern technology. At the moment it is only being used to crucify them.

Some of the decisions are inexplicable. I watched the Pool v Arsenal game yesterday and a corner was awarded when it clearly headed wide by the attacking team who was nowhere near an opposing defender. If it had led to a goal the decision would have been undefendable. Whether it the refs standards, the speed of the game, feigning by players they need help to make the right decisions.

Or, the wrong decisions, as it appears with some of ours ;-)

Begovic has been spouting his mouth off:
https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...egovic-bournemouth-manchester-city-refereeing

Referencing our game, said he would like a review into why the bigger to teams get all of the decisions. Unhappy that we scored in the 7th minutes of injury time when only 5 were added on etc...

So thats an ex-Chelsea player moaning that the big teams get all the decisions in a game where they got away with 1 or probably 2 red card challenges. Why was he so quiet at Chelsea if he felt this way?
He clearly doesn't know that it's also a minimum of 5 additional minutes and what fucks me off the most is that it was he who wasted the most time in the fucking game.

If he wants the refs to play strictly to the laws then why isn't he questioning why he didn't receive 2 yellow cards for time wasting instead of being given 4 or 5 warnings!

Exactly, him and the whole team were team wasting. Sure he would be complaining if they had scored in the 97th minute.

It is time for football to consider time keeping. 30 minute halfs with the clock stopped as soon as the ball is not in play.
This would reduce time wasting. And importantly stop teams whingeing when a ref adds on time because of time wasting, going down easily, subs in added time etc.

Eddie Howe said his tactics were to break the game up, this they did in all the ways explained above.

It would be a drastic change, but one worth experimenting with. 60 minutes in play is about what we get on average now, but it can very, 60 minutes in play would make it a level playing field.

I'm guessing if you asked every other PL manager the best way to try and nullify City, they would say break up the play and stop us playing a fast passing game.

The problem we have is the whistling wanker is all too happy to assist them. How many times do we get a situation where we get fouled, and the ref allow play on because we have a clear attacking advantage? Or how many times does the ref cut off the channels, blocking key passing opportunities?

It's no accident. It's blatant.

I understand what you are getting at but man we don't do ourselves any favours with some of our fouls, VK's was a booking, as was Mendy's for very rash tackles but yes on the whole we never seem to get the 1st couple of hard tackles for free, you know like the ones Silva has to deal with on a weekly basis, just letting him know they are there, commentator giggles, ****s.
First foul of the game. A Bournemouth player deliberately stands on the back of Merlin's ankle. Free kick only given.

Independant time keeper and as you say, clock stops when play stops, simple.

fair to both sides but much more importantly, its fair to the fans paying through the nose for tickets!

Has Altricham Taylor referred us since Chelsea? I don't recall seeing his ugly mug and long May that be the case. It's a scandal he is allowed to referee any team from Manchester or Trafford.

Not only does Pep have to come up with a plan to beat the opposition, he also has to take into account the disparity in refereeing. This will no doubt have an effect on the players and how they are allowed to play. Fair fight every game and we will destroy most teams. Unfortunately, that fair fight went out of the window when we gate crashed their party.
